The Wailers To Ring In 2009 On The Sunset Strip

12/19/2008
.
(PR) Recognized worldwide as the only group still capable of delivering Bob Marley's message of peace, love and equality, The Wailers will be ringing in the New Year as only they can, with a gig at The Roxy in Los Angeles December 31.

The date will be one of the first on the group's winter "Exodus" tour, named after the classic 1977 Wailers album which they will be playing in its entirety, including such hits as "Jammin'," "Waiting in Vain," and "One Love." They will be joined by several surprise guests.

The band has been riding high following their work with country superstar Kenny Chesney, singing harmonies and appearing in the video for his hit "Everyone Wants To Go To Heaven." The guest spot earned the band a high-profile appearance alongside Chesney at the Country Music Awards last month.

Formed in the late 1960s in Jamaica, the Wailers have gone on to become the world's most popular and well-known reggae group of all time, selling 250 million albums and playing to an estimated 24 million people worldwide. The group is now led by bassist and musical director Aston "Family Man" Barrett, the group's sole surviving founder and driving musical force, who was well known as Bob Marley's right hand-man during the singer's lifetime. Don't miss Marley's messengers as they bring some summer sun to venues this winter.
