(PR) On March 10 (February 23 in Europe), DM Stith's full-length debut Heavy Ghost will be released on Asthmatic Kitty Records. A colleague of label-mates Sufjan Stevens, Shara Worden (My Brightest Diamond) and others, Stith is a force of layered, orchestral sounds using piano, guitar, strings, electronics, choir, percussion and pennywhistles. His EP, Curtain Speech, was released this month to critical acclaim. Time Out London raved, "
shivering layers of handclaps, strings and spectral choirs-like Jeff Buckley armed with Andrew Bird's violin and the key to the mysteries of the cosmos." and WXPN proclaimed, "
pure angelic and often symphonic
" The EP does not include any songs found on the upcoming release.DM Stith spent a year writing, arranging, recording and performing the music on Heavy Ghosteven creating the album's artwork. The album features musical contributions from Sufjan Stevens and Shara Worden and includes a variety of instruments such as piano, strings, clarinets, percussion and saxophone. Stith's musical career began in Brooklyn contributing design help on Shara Worden's albums, as well as backup vocals and piano to songs on Bring Me The Workhorse. During that period Stith began composing his own work tapping into an earlier passion. Worden encouraged him to share his private songs with Asthmatic Kitty Records, and after hearing only two demo songs, the label invited Stith to write and record an album. He may have taken coaxing from friends to get on stage, but now that he is there he stands confidently and ready to perform the first act. HEAVY GHOST TRACK LIST 1. Isaac's Song 2. Pity Dance 3.
