Slightly Stoopid Tour

12/15/2008
.
(HER) Riding the wave of success with "2AM," their hit single currently on alt/rock radio charts across the country, Slightly Stoopid will kick off their Winter 2009 tour on February 5 in Tucson, Arizona. Providing support on this 13-date, southern U.S. trek will be the legendary bad boys of reggae music, Inner Circle. Tickets for all dates went on sale tomorrow, Saturday, December 13.

In addition to this southern run, Slightly Stoopid has been confirmed as one of the headliners at the Langerado Festival to be held at Bicentenial Park in Miami, Florida on March 6, 7 and 8. Stoopid's exact play date will be announced shortly, but the band will share the stage with artists such as Death Cab for Cutie, Snoop Dogg, Cold War Kids and Ryan Adams.

This first leg of Slightly Stoopid's 2009 tour dates will be in support of Stoopid's most recent CD, "Slightly Not Stoned Enough to Eat Breakfast Yet Stoopid," which was released last July on the group's own newly formed label, Stoopid Records.

Several of the CD's songs - "No Cocaine," "Sensimilla," "Circle House Blues," "False Rhythms," and "The Fruits" - were recorded in collaboration with the Inner Circle guys at their Circle House Studios in Miami, so fans should expect some serious on-stage jamming over the course of these dates.

The radio success of "2AM" has been a big - but happy - surprise for Slightly Stoopid, a true DIY band that consistently sells out concert dates and has has logged more than half-million CD sales, all without the help of radio, MTV or a major label.

"We've never really had any radio play before," said Stoopid's Miles Doughtry. "We've made a name for ourselves through our live shows and our near-constant touring, and have developed an extremely loyal fan base. But it's very cool to finally get the support from our local radio station, 91X, and then KROQ in L.A., and to see the success of the song snowball from there."

"2AM" which recounts the tale of that dreaded late-night knock at the door when the cops come sniffing for weed, quickly climbed 91X's Most Requested and Most Played charts. Then, the Los Angeles radio powerhouse, KROQ, programmed the track which also topped their Most Requested and Most Played charts. From there, the song has spread to some 50 alt/rock stations across the country.

Plus, "2AM" - from the band's 2007 release "Chronchitis - took home "Song of the Year" honors at this year's San Diego Music Awards, while Slightly Stoopid walked away with "Album of the Year" for "Chronchitis." "2AM" has also been nominated as Best Song of the Year at 91X, along with "I Would Do For You," a second Stoopid composition that is getting heavy airplay at 91X.
