(PR) Los Angeles quartet Silversun Pickups has been ceaselessly touring since the release of CARNAVAS (Dangerbird Records) last year, most recently sharing a stage with Snow Patrol in Australia. Prior to heading back to Europe this fall alongside the Kaiser Chiefs, the band will play two more shows in the States, Oct. 19 at the Fillmore in San Francisco and a homecoming show at the Wiltern, Oct. 20. Both shows sold out immediately. The second single, "Well Thought Out Twinkles," is receiving increasing radio play, jumping six spots on the chart in one week, following on the heels of "Lazy Eye," which peaked at #4 on the Modern Rock radio chart.
As video airplay remains steady, the band has been selected to participate in MTV's "Artist of the Week" program, to air later this year. They will be in good company joining recent artists such as Foo Fighters, Minus the Bear, Aesop Rock and Mark Ronson.
In addition, the band recently snagged an "mtvU Woodie Award" nomination for "The Breaking Woodie (Best Emerging Artist)," the only awards show honoring the artists voted best by the college audience on MTV's 24-hour college network.
