(antiMusic) We've heard a lot of excuses for canceling tours in the past but this one is a new one. Acute Anxiety. That's the reason being given for The White Stripes pulling the plug on their US Tour which was supposed to kick off today (Thursday). The band issued a simple and to the point statement about the last minute cancellation, "Meg White is suffering from acute anxiety and is unable to travel at this time. The White Stripes sincerely apologize to their fans. 'We hate to let people down and are very sorry.' Fans can obtain refunds for their tickets at point of purchase."
The band was supposed to tour behind their latest effort, the much hyped "Icky Thump" which dropped seven spots this week on the Billboard charts to No 51 after 11 weeks on the chart. This is just a couple spots ahead of Kelly Clarkson who was forced to cancel a tour earlier this year due to lack of interest.
