Those Damn Kids Won't Stop Buying CDs

(antiMusic) Proving once again that kids with their parents credit cards can be dangerous, the destruction of the music industry continues as the soundtrack to Disney's "High School Musical 2" has topped the charts once again, giving the album a four week run so far at the top of the Billboard 200 with sales of 165,000 last week. Maybe some revealing photos that surfaced on the web helped?Fergie jumped up to No. 2 with her album "The Dutchess," an impressive accomplishment considering the album came out just under a year ago. The Black Eyed Peas singer landed the spot with sales of 49,000 units last week. Last week was not a big week for new releases, most saved the 9/11 anniversary for that. But Chiodos new album "Bone Palace Ballet" debuted in the Top 10 with sales of 39,000 copies landing them firmly at No 5 in the charts a big jump from their previous album "All's Well that Ends Well" which debuted with 6,000 in sales in 2005. With the success of the "High School Musical" franchise you can look for the labels to look for even younger stars to sign, a trend that was already well underway but will probably accelerate even more now as more seasoned musicians with experience will be overlooked in favor of "cute" kids with the right looks.
