(PR) Portugal. The Man, currently on the road with Rocky Votolato, played an impromptu, acoustic show last night at a fan's apartment in Pittsburgh. P.TM and Votolato were scheduled to play an all-ages show at the Rex Theatre, but, at the last minute, the club changed its policy to "over 21," leaving some 50 underaged kids stranded outside the venue. Apparently, one of these kids - known only as Spencer - offered up his living room as a place that Votolato and P.TM could do a "house party" for the under-21 fans, and the musicians took him up on the suggestion. Directly following their respective sets at the Rex, P.TM and Votolato made their way the block or two to Spencer's apartment."It was crazy, the place was absolutely packed," laughed P.TM's John Baldwin Gourley. "We found this great colored strobe light ball, so we turned off all the lights and had all these colored lights rotating around the living room while we played. It was unreal. We played eight or nine songs, most of which we'd never done acoustically before, but everyone was standing up stomping, clapping and singing along. By our last song, 'Helter Skelter," the stomping and clapping and singing got so intense, the entire apartment was shaking. It was the coolest sing-along ever!"
Portugal. The Man, whose music has been described as "the White Stripes meet the Mars Volta meets Led Zeppelin," will be on tour through late November in support of their newest album, "Church Mouth." At this time, they have no further plans to play at fans' houses, but who knows? - Read our Artist of the Month review for the band
