(Day in Rock) Geffen Records is pleased to announce the release of, Alone - The Home Recordings of Rivers Cuomo on December 11, 2007. As the title suggests it's a compilation of demos he has made over the years completed by detailed liner notes.Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo announced on his myspace page recently "I've compiled a CD of my favorite demos from the years 1992 to 2007 and Geffen Records has agreed to put it out this December, on the eleventh. I hope you enjoy it. I may also be able to put out more demo CDs in the near future."
The label sent over an additional note from Rivers and he says the set features "a lot of never heard before songs, a few covers, a few songs from my unfinished rock musical 'Songs From The Black Hole' and my original demo for 'Buddy Holly'" They also sent this player so you can grab a preview of what is come:
The genesis of the album lays in an incident from Christmas 1990, when Rivers convinced his mother to co-sign a credit card which he used to buy a Tascam 688 home recording unit -- hes been recording demos ever since. The vast majority will be new to even the most die-hard Weezer fan. Rivers plays all the instruments on most songs and the album combined with the liner notes offers insight into where he draws inspiration to write and arrange his music. Alone The Home Recordings Of Rivers Cuomo is a true treasure chest for Weezer fans and fans of great modern rock songs. don't see the player? go here
