(Gigwise) We've heard a lot about the worthless
writers of banal garbage who recently went on strike in Hollywood (we say
fire them and get people that can write) but across the nation the folks
that build sets for equally banal garbage that takes place live on stage
have also gone on strike. Yup, we're talking about Broadway. (We can't
fault the stagehands for how bad most Broadway productions are. that's
like blaming the Key Grip for a terrible movie). Seems that the strike
hasn't only hurt the Streisand loving set, concerts at venues there have
also be hit. Most notably Duran Duran.
Gigwise has the story: Duran Duran have
been forced to reschedule concert dates in New York after Broadway workers
went on strike. The strikes by stagehands – which have affected a number
of Broadway productions - lead to the cancellation of the band's performance
at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on Saturday (November 10th).
The group were coming to the end of a ten-night
residency at the famous Broadway venue. Performances scheduled for tonight
(November 12th) and Tuesday (November 13th) have now been moved to the
Roseland Ballroom. - more
