Predictable Summer Hits

05/25/07
.
(PR) Want to know the future? Let MTV show you because Nostradamus has nothing on us. As the network that has always had their finger on the pulse of what is a future hit song, MTV has predicted huge summer hits like Shakira’s “Hips Don’t Lie,” Beyoncé’s “Crazy In Love,” and let’s not forget Nelly Furtado getting “Promiscuous.” And can anyone actually say “Hot In Herre” without a southern accent? Find out this year’s predictions as MTV introduces “Spankin’ New Music Week: Summer Soundtrack” across multiple platforms including MTV, MTV2 and MTV.com. “Spankin’ New Music Week: Summer Soundtrack” will air from Tuesday, May 29 through Friday, June 1 starting on “Total Request Live” at 3:30pm-4:30pm ET/PT. Hosted by MTV VJs Damien Fahey and Susie Castillo, this week of special programming/predictions will introduce music fans to what could be the next great anthem of the summer from artists who will visit “TRL” live everyday during “Spankin’ New Music Week.”

Scheduled to perform live on “TRL” are Maroon 5, Ne-Yo, Daddy Yankee, T-Pain and Daughtry. Special guests appearances by Gym Class Heroes, T.I., Dane Cook, Mario, Sum 41, Fabolous, Seth Rogen and more. “TRL” will have video premieres throughout the week including videos from My Chemical Romance “Teenagers” and Mario “How Do I Breath” on May 30, Green Day "Working Class Hero" and Sum 41 “Underclass Hero” on May 31 and Fabolous f/ Ne-Yo “Make Me Better” on June 1.

In the spirit of “Spankin’ New Music Week: Summer Soundtrack,” MTV.com will feature all of the week’s live “TRL” performances, photo flipbook highlights from performances and appearances and all on-air video premieres.

On May 31st, MTV, MTV2 and mtvU will have the exclusive on-air premiere of Green Day's new video "Working Class Hero," the first single and video from the forthcoming album "Instant Karma: The Amnesty International Campaign to Save Darfur." Led by Amnesty International, "Instant Karma" brings together more than 50 of today's biggest international stars - covering some of John Lennon's most powerful songs - to focus attention and mobilize activism around the urgent catastrophe in Darfur and other human rights crises. Beginning May 31st "Working Class Hero" will also be available on demand on MTV.com and mtvU.com. Both websites feature in depth info on the crisis and numerous ways to take action.

MTV2 will start the week off by featuring daily “Unleashed” video premieres beginning on Tuesday, May 29 with Common: “The Game”, My Chemical Romance: “Teenagers” on Wednesday, May 30, and Green Day: “Working Class Hero” on Thursday, May 31. In addition, “Sucker Free” will premiere new videos by some of today’s hottest hip hop stars including T.I., Fabolous, Mike Jones, Eve, Common and more…
