All Smiles For Grandaddy Guitarist

(PR) Lets get it out there early: Jim Fairchild was the guitarist in Grandaddy. Once that band imploded, he formed something altogether more delicate and personal named All Smiles. After recording snippets of songs in borrowed spaces up and down the West Coast, an album started to come together. "It was a no-budget record," says Jim. "There wasn't any backing yet. I just set up whatever gear I had in the kitchen of our borrowed house in Portland, and our living room in Los Angeles. It sounds like the places it was recorded in. You can hear the walls, and the floors, and the ceilings, and you can hear the cars, and the trees, and the guys selling drugs outside." Surrounding himself with talented musicians such as Janet Weiss (Sleater Kinney, Quasi), Joe Plummer (Modest Mouse, Black Heart Procession), Danny Seim (Menomena), and Solon Bixler (Great Northern), Fairchild has put together an album of lo-fi pop gems, sketching songs and stories with his spidery acoustic guitar lines. Ten Readings Of A Warning will be released on April 24th via Dangerbird Records. [grab an mp3 at the full story link] - Click here for the Full Story
