Day of Silence for the Day in Rock
06/25/07
.
(PR) Tomorrow, June 26, thousands of webcasters / Internet radio stations will be observing a day of silence in protest of the Copyright Royalty Board's outrageous royalty rate hike. While we do not webcast and the royalty hike does not hit us directly we are joining the webcasters in this protest, many of which will have to shutdown if the rates take effect because the rates will exceed 100% of their profit. To add insult to injury, these rates will be retroactive and only hurt online radio as over-the-air radio does not have to pay these specific royalties. So tomorrow the Day in Rock will not be published but will return on Wednesday. You can help stop this from happening by contacting your members of Congress and asking them to support the The Internet Radio Equality Act, which will stop this unfair tax on Internet radio while insuring the stations pay their FAIR share of royalties (the same as Satellite radio). See the full story link for more information and to find the contact info for your members of Congress. - Click here for the Full Story
