(PR) On August 7th, Blue Note Records will release Grammy-award winning recording artist Van Hunt's The Popular Machine. The digital EP will give fans a preview of Hunt’s forthcoming self-produced, full-length album, Popular, which Blue Note will release on January 15, 2008. The four-track EP will include "turn my TV on" and "the lowest 1 of my desires" from the upcoming album plus acoustic versions of hit single "Character" and "Night is Young;" the latter two are from Hunt’s 2006 album, On The Jungle Floor, which debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. The Popular Machine and Popular mark the beginning of Hunt’s new association with Blue Note Records. "Van Hunt is a true original and a superb songwriter," said Bruce Lundvall, President & CEO, Blue Note Label Group. "We're thrilled to have him on Blue Note." As the new songs demonstrate, Hunt continues to advance the sexy assemblage of funk, rock, soul and all styles in between that he established with his first two discs, but he has leapt into deeper waters, both emotionally and musically. "This record is all the way me," he says. "Without a doubt, it’s certainly personal, in its sound, in its lyrics. I wouldn’t necessarily call it autobiographical, but it’s all about how I feel. Picasso said that art should disrupt, and it does that a bit."
