antiMusic Prize

(antiMusic) It's almost that time of year again. That's right, time for the antiMusic Prize! Where one lucky winner will walk away with $2.37 (minus $2.37 shipping and handling) and the honor of being the antiMusic Prize winner. We'll be opening up nomination in the next week or two so you can submit your favorite artists for this stunning honor. Once nominations close, we'll take your nominations, disregard the ones we don't like and come up with a list of 12 finalist that you will vote for! Stay tuned for that. In other news, the Mercury Prize nominations were announced and while less prestigious than the antiMusic Prize and not quite as cool as Uncle Joe's Crab Shack Battle of the Bands in Tupelo each spring, some people go goo goo over this prize where the winner walks away with 20 pounds (not of drugs, Brit money to spend on drugs or drink). The Arctic Monkeys walked away with the glory last year, we don't know what they spent the windfall on but they are up for the prize again this year and are looking to make history as the first artist to snag the honor two years in a row. Amy Winehouse will be giving them a run for the beer money and 2003 Dizzee Rascal isn't going to sit tight for just any monkeys trying to steal his cash. The Klaxons, The View and bunch of other people we never heard are also battling it out for the honor that will awarded at a live ceremony in London on September 4th. 2007 Mercury Prize nominees: Amy Winehouse - Back to Black Arctic Monkeys - Favourite Worst Nightmare Basquiat Strings - Basquiat Strings with Seb Rochford Bat for Lashes - Fur and Gold Dizzee Rascal - Maths and English Fionn Regan - The End of History Jamie T - Panic Prevention Klaxons - Myths of the Near Future Maps - We Can Create New Young Pony Club - Fantastic Playroom The View - Hats Off to the Buskers The Young Knives - Voices of Animals and Men
