(PR) Today marks the U.S. release of Apocalyptica’s new DVD, entitled The Life Burns Tour. The group, which hails from Finland and is comprised of four classically trained cellists plus a metal drummer, has achieved worldwide fame via their unique melding of epic metal with acoustic stringed instrumentation. The band initially gained notoriety in the U.S. with the 1997 album release “Plays Metallica By Four Cellos,” which sold over a million copies worldwide. The new DVD is the band’s first release for Jive Records/Zomba Label Group, and it includes a 20-song complete live concert from Dusseldorf, Germany that features Apocalyptica’s original compositions as well as their re-imaginings of classic material by Metallica, Sepultura, and more, not to mention their version of Grieg’s well-loved piece “In The Hall Of The Mountain King.” Also included on the disc is an Apocalyptica video collection showcasing the band’s ability to integrate vocalists into their music, including collaborations with Ville Valo (HIM), Lauri Ylonen (Rasmus), Matt Tuck (Bullet For My Valentine) and Max Cavalera (Sepultura/Soulfly). A short EPK shows the in-studio recording of the song Repressed featuring Tuck and Cavalera, each of whom give exclusive interviews about the making of the song and their love for the band. This DVD will tide Apocalyptica fans over until the group drops their new full-length album later this year. Many metal and rock insiders believe the next release will herald the group’s breakthrough in this country from underground sensation to household name.
