40 Covers For 40 Years of BBC Radio 1

08/17/07
.
(antiMusic) BBC Radio 1 is celebrating their 40th birthday in an unusual way by asking some of today's stars to cover the songs of yesteryear. Each of the 40 years of Radio 1 will be represented by a cover tune and there are some unusual match-ups like rapper The Streets covering Elton John's "Your Song" and The Kooks take on the Ace of Base hit "All That She Wants".

The Kaiser Chiefs will kick off the release with their version of The Move's "Flowers in the Rain," the very first song played on Radio 1. The album, titled Radio 1. Established 1967, will be released on Roctober 1st says the BBC.

The tracklisting has been let out of the bag but the BBC cautions that the recordings have not been completed so things might change by the time the project is completed, according to Filter.
