Queensryche Identity Theft

08/14/07
.
(antiMusic) Queensryche is best known for their "Operation Mindcrime" concept albums but it turns out that someone previously associated with the band's frontman is now on a "Most Wanted" list for several felonies.

Scott C. Moughton, reported to be a one time guitarist for Queensryche frontman Geoff Tate's solo project is wanted by police in Lynnwood, Wa for identity theft, possession of a controlled substance and forgery.

Investigators say Moughton used a stolen identification to buy a $71,000 Lexus in May from a dealership in Lynnwood and believe that the used the victims information on the Internet to get pre-approved for the auto loan.

The victim didn't know about the fraudulent purchase until receiving the payment paperwork a month later, Lynnwood police spokeswoman Shannon Sessions told HeraldNet. Police did recover the vehicle.

The auto loan isn't the only crime that Lynnwood police want Moughton for. He also has several felony warrants for identity theft, possession of a controlled substance and forgery. Police also want to question him about stolen credit cards used at an area Nordstrom store where he was caught on camera using the stolen cards.

The Queensryche camp claim that Moughton was never an official member of Tate's solo band but did play on his 2002 album.

The case goes a bit deeper and you can read more about it here
