(antiMusic) They were deemed too young for the Jagermeister stage at Ozzfest but it looks like Black Tide have been promoted to the main stage at the music festival. So much for putting in years of paying dues. TuneLab is reporting that Black Tide has indeed joined Ozzfest after they announced last week that they had the opportunity taken away from them by the liquor giant Jagermeister because they were not old enough to drink. Sharon and co seemed to have gotten around this by bumping the band up to a coveted "main stage" slot. Not bad for a band who hasn't even released their debut album.
The band was called on earlier this week to replace Circus Diablo on the tour after that band pulled out of this year's "Free Fest". A few hours later as they prepared to leave to join the tour they had their Ozzfest dreams crushed.
They broke the news on their Myspace, "Jagermeister decided that since we were underage, they couldnt allow us to play on their stage. We had the support of Live Nation and Ozzfest, but because Jagermeister owns the second stage, we cant play. Sorry that we got anyones hopes up and we feel terrible about this whole ordeal."
Somehow being underage didn't keep them from landing a major label deal. Maybe they had fake IDs to play clubs where A&R people could see them? Or maybe the rumors that major labels are trolling high schools looking for bands is true? Who knows? But we do know that the band's debut album on Interscope is set to be released sometime this year.
