(antiMusic) Good news for aging hippies that turned into yuppies and made a killing since the Summer of Love. You have the opportunity to buy a huge part of hippy history. That's right, Woodstock is for sale!Roy Howard, the owner of the farm that hosted the famed Woodstock festival in 1969 has put the property up for sale. Hippy heaven can be yours for the low asking price of $8 million. Seems Howard's dreams of hosting another Woodstock have been crushed by "the man" who have denied him permits for music festivals on the land.
According to AP, "Up for sale is the 186-square-metre house that belonged to dairy farmer Max Yasgur, along with a larger farmhouse, a barn and 42 bucolic hectares about 130 kilometres north of New York City" and other goodies but there is a HUGE catch.
The field where the original music festival was held isn't included in the hefty price as that is home to the Bethel Woods Center, a 4,800-seat venue built by cable Czar Alan Gerry last summer. Which is only fitting since most of what came out of the 60s has turned into disappoint or was sold out, despite what those ultra rich people in the media that constantly look back on it keep saying. The wearers of the hippy LCD inspired rainbow colored glasses know who they are.
