Global Rollins

08/01/07
.
(PR) The upcoming weeks of The Henry Rollins Show on IFC will showcase musicians from around the world beginning August 10 with transglobal Gypsy punk rockers Gogol Bordello, followed by internationally acclaimed Manu Chao August 17, UK’s The Duke Spirit August 24 and Ireland’s Sinead O’Connor August 31. The Henry Rollins Show airs every Friday night at 11:00 PM EST on IFC.

August 17 marks the U.S. television debut for internationally celebrated artist Manu Chao. Widely heralded as the pioneer of Latin alternative music, Chao is multilingual and. multicultural, blending rock, reggae, punk, ska and more. With explosive live shows, performing to sold-out crowds of tens of thousands around the world, Chao stays true to his anti-establishment principles by mixing music and politics and performing at events that promote anti-globalization efforts.

In an exclusive interview for IFC.com, Chao discusses the importance of music in society. Chao says, "This question they ask me very often, 'can music change the world?' It can help, but it's not a question only of musicians, now the situation is so bad that we need musicians, we need the taxi drivers, we need fishermen, we need students, we need workers, we need everybody. We need all of society, we don't need only musicians.". Catch the interview in its entirety beginning August 14th on www.ifc.com.
