(PR) Swedish phenom Melody Club storms the shores with the U.S. debut of At Your Service, 12 tracks of danceable, punk-tinged new wave that’s at once sophisticated and accessible to the uninitiated. Streeting Aug. 21, At Your Service showcases a band that infuses strongly rooted rock with pop-sensibilities crafting tunes that override that voice in your head that says you’re too cool to bob your head. The cutting-edge alt-pop-rock outfit recently signed to The Saturday Team, brainchild of industry vets Ken Olden and Issa Diao, after a chance encounter in Sweden. “I brought home a copy of an old record to play for Issa, and we both fell in love with them immediately,” says Ken.
The songs on At Your Service are bouncy and catchy, proving that band frontman and chief songwriter Kristofer Östergren doesn’t overthink the creative process or bog these tunes down with pretension. The result is an approachable concoction of effortless melodies blended with a potent hybrid of disco, punk, rock and new wave mayhem.
“Our melodies are our essence, our core,” says Östergren. “All the other ingredients that go into a song—lyrics, rhythms—are built around the melodies since they have always been the foundation to our music.”
