Sonic Youth Sign up Wooden Wand

(PR) The legendary musicians and tastemakers in Sonic Youth have professed their love for folkadelic troubadour Wooden Wand, taking him on tour as their opening act in February and lending their support in the making of his latest album, James & The Quiet.

Thurston Moore -- Sonic Youth's spry, eternally-teenaged guitarist/vocalist -- recently signed Wooden Wand to his Ecstatic Peace label (home of Be Your Own Pet), announcing a June 12th release date for James & The Quiet. The album was produced by SY guitarist Lee Ranaldo (who also plays some stringed things on the recording), and longtime SY drummer Steve Shelley provides his signature rhythmic strut.
