(Harper PR) Award-winning actor OBBA BABATUNDE has signed to co-star in the upcoming Martha Coolidge-directed comedy "Material Girls," starring sisters Hilary and Haylie Duff.
The film revolves around wealthy and busy socialites "Tanzie and Ava Marchetta" (portrayed by the Duff sisters), heiresses to a cosmetics company fortune, who find themselves in for a rude shock when the company stock nose-dives after allegations of
illegal product testing. Babatunde portrays the slick and preppy CFO of the company "Craig."
"Material Girls" is produced by Maverick Films with Concept Entertainment and Rafter H. Entertainment. The independent feature film is executive produced by Madonna, Michael Mendelsohn, Milton Kim and Susan Duff, and was written by John Quaintance.
Babatunde most recently starred in New Line Cinema's caper "After The Sunset," and can currently be seen in the UPN hit comedy series "Half & Half." His extensive credits include critically acclaimed performances in HBO's "Miss Evers' Boys" (for which he received an Emmy nomination), and "Introducing Dorothy Dandridge," (for which he received an NAACP Image Award nomination, directed by Coolidge), as well as memorable co-starring roles in the films "John Q," "Philadelphia," "That Thing You Do," among numerous others.
Babatunde is managed by Audrey Davis of Davis Management, and represented by The Stone/Manners Agency.
