musicNEWS: Fred Durst Sued Over Security Guard Head Kick

.
We may soon have to replace the term “ambulance chaser” with “security guard chaser”, as yet another lawsuit has been filed against a rock star over an incident with a security guard during a concert.

The accused this time is Limp Bizkit frontmonkey Fred Durst, who is being sued by a security company that employed a guard that reportedly received a kick in the head from Durst during a 1999 concert.

The St. Paul based security company, Azzone Security Investigation Agency, Inc., (ASIA), filed a lawsuit against Durst, as well as Limp Bizkit’s production and record company. According to the Associated Press, they are seeking reimbursement of workers compensation expenses that they paid to Patrick Estes, the guard who was allegedly assaulted.

In total they are suing for $49,663, which includes past and anticipated future workers comp. payments to Estes.

Estes was reportedly kicked in the head by Durst during a Limp Bizkit concert in 1999. Durst was arrested following the incident but charges were later dropped. According to a police report the Limp Bizkit frontmonkey was remorseful over the kick as he had mistaken Estes for a fan attacking his personal security person.
In April 2000, Durst and other defendants paid Estes $100,000 to settle a civil lawsuit that the guard had filed.

St. Paul is fast becoming the security guard litigation against rock star capitol of the world. A few weeks ago a jury in St. Paul acquitted Marilyn Manson of civil assault charges that sprang forth from the shock rocker’s crotch gyrations against the head of a security guard during a concert.

The jury didn’t think that Manson’s actions equated with assault. However, if Manson were to try these antics in Los Angeles, under a new law passed by the city council banning “lap dances”, he might be in deep legal trouble.
