Korn frontman Jonathan Davis says that the
groups new album, Take A Look In The Mirror, is more edgy than the
bands last offering.
"We've got that spark in us again," Davis
told Rolling Stone. "This is a really aggressive record. More edgy. The
last record we were experimenting. This album is back down to the basics
and heavy grooves and getting people pumped. You'll have a lot of screaming
on this one."
For those who might have taken that last
comment out of context, Davis added, "I don't scream just for the sake
of screaming. When we sit down to write, we just write whatever comes out.
I was going through some rough times. It's basically about relationships
and f***in' hate."
The new album is scheduled to hit stores
in November and also marks the first time the group produced an entire
album on their own, without the help of an outside producer. "It was time
for us to do our own [record]," Davis said. "It's been really great, really
kicked back. It's not like being in the sterile environment of a regular
studio. We can kick back, jump in my swimming pool, whatever we want to
do."
Davis also revealed some tidbits about
the songs on the forthcoming album, "There's a song called 'Everything
I Know'," Davis told Rolling stone, "that's about when you're fighting
with your girl, and how when you've been together for so long, things can
just get s***ty . . . And then there's ones about people I just cannot
stand and want to kill. I have a real problem with people."
He also went on record about a song called
Right Now. "That's a song about waking up and wanting to kill everybody."
With the release of the album just a couple
months away, expect more details to tinkle out in the coming weeks.
