A jury in Minnesota sided with Marilyn Manson
after hearing testimony against the shock rocker on charges of battery
and that he causing emotional distress to a security guard at one of his
concerts. The security guard, David Diaz, sued Manson after the performer
allegedly pulled the unsuspecting guards head into his and gyrated, during
a concert three years ago.
Diaz was seeking more than $75,000 in damages.
Manson contended that his actions did not constitute assault and after
11 hours of deliberation when the jury returned with a verdict, they apparently
agreed.
Manson faces a similar civil suit in Michigan
for a crotch gyrating episode with another security guard during a 2001
concert. Last year, Manson entered a plea of no contest to criminal charges
of assault and battery and disorderly conduct that were brought against
him following that incident.
