Bands are starting to see the potential of
selling bootlegs of their live performances on their websites. Phish is
perhaps the best known group to do this and received a nice payday. Pearl
Jam has opted to release their official bootlegs on good old fashioned
CDs. Now Primus jumps into the mix by offering downloads of their current
tour.
A new website PrimusLive.com has been established
so fans can download MP3 or CD-quality FLAC audio recordings of their concerts.
The recordings will be taken directly off the soundboard and will be offered
up for sale a few days after that concert stop.
The site is set to launch on November 7th
with the October concerts being offered up, after that the shows are expected
to hit the site 48 hours after Les and Company leave the stage.
The band is currently embarked on their
"Tour de Fromage" North America tour in support of their new CD/DVD "Animals
Should Not Try to Act Like People," which hit stores on October 7th.
