Incubus will release their fifth full length
studio album on February 10 and will also be kicking off a world tour in
January. But fans dont have to wait until then to get a hold of new recordings
from the band. Incubus have decided to follow the examples set by Pearl
Jam and Phish and release official bootleg CDs that feature live concerts
and other goodies.
The twist here is the money made from the
sale of these bootlegs will not go into the pockets of the band members,
but instead will go towards their Make Yourself Foundation.
According to the official press release,
The Make Yourself Foundation is a non-profit organization that will fund
various causes and charities both locally and around the world that are
important to the band.
The band intends to fund the foundation
by donating a portion of the proceeds generated from touring, record royalties,
online auctions of Incubus concert tickets and memorabilia, and special
events. The bands goal is to raise $1 million over the course of the next
year.
The first bootleg CD has been released
exclusively online at IncubusBootlegs.com
Here is how that site describes the disc:
Incubus' Live At Lollapalooza 2003 is the
first in a series of Live Incubus Bootleg CDs to be released from various
concerts around the world over the course of the next year. All proceeds
from the sale of these Bootlegs will go to the Make Yourself Foundation.
Live At Lollapalooza 2003 includes 12 live recordings of fan favorites
from S.C.I.E.N.C.E., Make Yourself and Morning View as well as one new
yet-to-be-released track that will be featured on Incubus' forthcoming
studio album, and a couple never-before-recorded covers including Lionel
Richie's "Hello" and Shudder To Think's "X-French Tee Shirt."
Also featured are guest performances from
DJ Cut Chemist and DJ Nu-Mark from Jurassic 5.
Live At Lollapalooza 2003 -- a true collector's
item for the die-hard Incu-fan, all for a mere $9.98.
This Bootleg CD will be available exclusively
online - it will not be in stores anywhere. Order today and your Bootleg
will be shipped on October 7th, 2003.
