'Scary Movie 3' Sets $50 Million Record, Jolie Bombs

“Scary Movie 3” was the clear winner at the
box office this past weekend. The third installment for the horror movie
spoof franchise brought in $49.7 million during its opening weekend, making
it the highest grossing October release in history.
The film also doubled the first weekend
take for "Scary Movie 2", and even outsold the original “Scary Movie” which
debuted with $42.3 million in July of 2000. The original film was a runaway
success bringing in $157 million.
A fourth installment is expected next Fall.
“The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” remake came
in at no. 2 with $14.7 million, followed closely by the new Cuba Gooding
Jr. and Ed Harris film, “Radio” which brought in $14 million.
Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie's new film
"Beyond Borders" was a bomb at the box office, grossing only $2 million.
