musicNEWS: Followup: Limp Bizkit Sales Down By A Third, Outkast Tops The Charts.

Outkast and Dave Matthews beat out Limp Bizkit in the battle for top first week sales.

Looks like last week’s prediction that Limp Bizkit’s first week sales would be way down from their previous efforts has held true now that the numbers have been tallied.

When Limp Bizkit decided to name their new CD “Results May Very”, they may not have known that the title would prove prophetic. The numbers are in for the week sales for the group’s latest disc and only managed to move about a third of what their previously albums sold the first week they were in stores.

This also marks the first time the group has not debuted at No. 1 on the album charts since their debut album.

“Results May Very” managed to sell 325,000 units it’s first week in stores, which lands it at No. 3 on the charts. Their last album, “Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water", moved 1,054,511 copies in it’s first  week in U.S. stores and landed at No. 1 on Billboard’s album charts when it was released in 2000.

Limp Bizkit frontmonkey Fred Durst warned fans earlier this week that result indeed may vary, when he posted an update to the group’s official website. He wrote, “RMV[“Results May Vary”] is not an instant ‘smash’ record. it is an album that will take time to sink in. the words have a much deeper than  they read on the first time or two. things will start speaking to you the more you listen. something about it has kept me listening over and over again.”

Who beat out the rap-metal kings? Oukast and Dave Matthews, both outsold Limp Bizkit with albums that also debuted on the charts this week.

Outkast sold 509,000 copies of their double album, “Speakerboxxx/The Love Below” to land in the top spot on the charts.

Dave Matthews, sans the band, debuted at No. 2 having sold around 470,000 copies of his solo debut “Some Devil”.

Elsewhere on the charts, Nickleback returned with “The Long Road” and sold 200,000 copies in the first week. That was slightly up from their previous debut with “Silverside Up” which sold 177,986 the first week out and eventually went on to sell 4.7 million copies.

Rob Zombie’s career retrospective “Past, Present & Future” landed at No. 11 with sales fo 94,000 units.

Fuel landed at No. 15 with sales of 70,000 units of their new one “Natural Selection”.
