White Stripes frontman Jack White will dominate
the soundtrack to Cold Mountain when it hits stores on Dec. 16th. The
singer guitarist contributed five songs to the sound track, including a
new Christmas song. Three of the tracks are covers Howlin' Wolf's "Sittin'
on Top of the World," "Great High Mountain" (best known for the Ralph Stanley
version), and the classic "Wayfaring Stranger".
White has recorded two original compositions
for the soundtrack; the holiday themed "Christmas Time Will Soon Be Over"
and a song called "Never Far Away".
The film was adapted from the Charles Frazier
best-selling book of the same name and stars Nicole Kidman, Jude Law and
Renee Zellweger. The epic Civil War era drama also features a small acting
part by White himself. It is slated for a big Christmas day release.
