musicNEWS: Puddle of Mudd, Thrice, Great White and More Aid Cal Fire Victims

Bands are pitching in to help victims of the recent Southern California Fires. Puddle of Mudd, Thursday, Thrice, Coheed and Cambria and Great White have all pledged their support.

The wildfires were the worst in California history--they devastated 281,000 acres, killed 22 people and destroyed over 2,200 homes.

Modern rock band Puddle of Mudd have announced that they will donate the proceeds from their upcoming San Diego concert to fire victims. The profits from their Nov. 15th show at the SOMA theatre will go towards setting up a fund with the Salvation Army.

Puddle of Mudd frontman Wes Scantlin issued a statement explaining why the group felt compelled to help out, "Most of us live in Southern California, and we've been on tour watching all this devastation on TV from 3,000 miles away trying to figure out what we could do to help".

Thursday, Thrice and Coheed and Cambria also kicked in some monetary aid. They donated the proceeds from their appearance at the SOMA last Monday to the San Diego Fire Relief Fund. That fund was set up by the San Diego Chargers and the NFL to aid victims of the massive fires in San Diego county.

Thursday and Thrice's record label also said that they will help by matching the donations made by the bands.

Great White, who are now infamous for the nightclub fire in Rhode Island last February that killed 100 people, including their guitarist Ty Longley, were touched directly by these tragic fires.

The group’s former drummer Audie Desbrow lost his home in the fire. The band plans to donate half of the proceeds from their Nov 9th show in Yucaipa, California, to the Los Angeles County Fire Relief Fund. That show is part of the group’s current benefit tour where they are raising money for the Station Family Fund, which was set up to aid victims and families of the night club fire the group was involved in.

Other bands are also stepping up to the plate to help.

Irish band the Young Dubliners plan to donate all proceeds from their Nov 8th concert in Solana Beach to the Roach family, who lost their 16-year-old daughter, Ashleigh, in the fire.

Brand New plan to give the San Diego Fire Relief Fund 25 percent of the proceeds from their Nov 14th concert at The Scene in San Diego.

P.O.D. which is based out of San Diego has indicated that they also plan to help in some way.
