Members of Great White—lead vocalist Jack
Russell, bassist David Filice, guitarist Mark Kendall and drummer Eric
Powers, as well as members of their crew--were subpoenaed last week to
appear before a grand jury in Rhode Island that is looking into the fatal
club fire at the Station nightclub on February 20th.
The grand jury convened last Wednesday
at the National Guard training center Camp Fogarty.
There was a report earlier this week from
the Associated Press stating the attorney for Great White’s lead vocalist,
Jack Russell, was seeking immunity for his client before he would agree
to testify. However, Russell’s attorney, Neil Philbin, now denies those
reports.
"Discussions have taken place between Russell's
attorneys and the department of the attorney general," Philbin said Saturday.
"Mr. Russell has been cooperative and he'll continue to be cooperative
and helpful to the department in any way."
Great White’s attorney, Ed McPherson, added,
"I can't tell you what we're going to do in the future, but we're cooperating
fully right now, and that's what everyone should be doing."
"Jack and the rest of the band have done
everything they've been required to do by the attorney general,” Said McPherson.
“They've been fully cooperative."
Peter DiBiase, the attorney for Great White’s
drummer Eric Powers told the press that Powers has already "discharged
his obligation to the grand jury."
At press time there is no indication that
Russell has testified before the grand jury.
