musicNEWS:  Fred Durst Defends Deftones’ Chino Moreno.

It’s been a few weeks and Fred Durst hasn’t been in the news so it comes as no surprise that the outspoken Limp Bizkit frontman has once again opened his mouth. But what is surprising is that this time he took the uncharacteristic turn of defending Deftones vocalist Chino Moreno, who has come under fire after making some derogatory comments about Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park to a writer from Revolver Magazine.

In that interview, when asked about the Summer Santitarium tour with Metallica, Chino responded, “A big problem for me was opening for Limp Bizkit And Linkin Park, two bands that wouldn't exist if it weren't for me, straight up! But in the end I'm seriously energized and I'm not going out there to make friends and kick it. I'm out there to leave people with their jaws on the floor. And I know we can do it. I know we're the best live band on the tour."

According to Blabbermout.net, Durst took to the airwaves earlier this week on New York radio station K-Rock and defended Moreno’s comments. Durst said, “"That's just Chino. I've known [Chino] for years. The first tour Limp Bizkit ever did, before DJ Lethal was in the band, we did a tour with the Deftones, following them in our cars in these little venues literally 30-40 people a night. We've been Deftones fans [for a long time]. There's something about the presence and the vibe and the spirit of that band that touches me emotionally. And I know Chino. It's just that [Sacramento] vibe, man. They don't really give a f***. And nothing impresses them, and they're over it, and they're who they are, and they stand their ground, and I've gotta respect them for that. He called me after [the interview was published], and he said, 'Dude, sorry about that. I don't know… I guess it was a bad day, I was just talking s***."

antiMUSIC's Hobo wasn't as forgiving and took Moreno to task over the interview. Especially over the following comments made by Moreno, "As KORN go on, it's the same things — bad childhoods and mean moms. It gets old after awhile. How old is Jonathan? Thirty years old? How long has it been since he lived with his parents? Try to go somewhere else. If you're genuine and write about whatever is drawing the emotion now, you can't be f*cked with."

Hobo felt that Moreno's comments were hypocritical. Here is part of Hobo's response, "Well let’s analyze Chino’s lyrics shall we? Bad poetry concerning knife parties (“so go get your knife now kiss me”), bad raps about school (“Cause back in school, We are the leaders of it all”) and a wealth of disjointed ramblings amounting to nothing at all. Chino’s song writing is nothing special, and when his band is broken down, their style evolved from the work that Korn paved with their self-titled debut. My first impression upon hearing a Deftones song was that Chino was obviously a little mixed up in the head from say, an unwarranted sexual assault from an uncle (followed by many more welcome advances).
