musicNEWS:  Russell Simmons Calls For Boycott Over Osbournes Soda Ad.

"The boycott is being called in response to Pepsi dropping Ludacris as spokesman and subsequently picking up the Osbournes, who are no less vulgar," said a spokeswoman for Simmons.

[Talking Points Memo]

Actually, Ludacris is far more vulgar than Ozzy Osbourne. Ozzy has had plenty of controversy over the years but his lyrical content is tame compared to the lyrics found in raps by Ludacris.

It’s true that Ozzy and his family have a tendency to use foul language in everyday life, which has been presented to the public at large through the MTV reality show “The Osbournes,” however the language in the show is censored for television and Ozzy’s lyrics are not laced with profanity. Which is something that Ludacris cannot claim.

It only takes a cursory look at the rapper’s lyrics to see the difference.  Just look at these lyrics from his song “Coming 2 America”:

WARNING THE FOLLOWING CONTAINS PROFANITY. IF YOU ARE A MINOR OR ARE EASILY OFFENDED DO NOT PROCEED.

The royal penis is clean your highness / Thank you, king s***

Yeah motherf***ers! / Welcome to the United States of America. / Time to roll out the red carpet on y'all bitch asses.

Man f*** that nigga 'Cris man, for real man. I'm tired of this s*** man.
/ Man I try to rap for the nigga, I try to get a nigga tracks; he ain't hearin my s***.
Man for real. / Man my four-year-old son can rap better than that nigga;
man that nigga garbage. / Man I got talent too, the nigga ain't  hearin me. /
Man iii-iiiis this s*** on? 'Cris, c'mon 'Cris. / 'Cris, f'real man. f*** YOU NIGGA, MAN f*** YOU!

If you bleeped out all of the profanity in that rap you would be left with.

The royal is clean your highness / Thank you, king

Yeah! / Welcome to the United States of America. / Time to roll out the red carpet on y'all.

Man that 'Cris man, for real man. I'm tired of this man.
/ Man I try to rap for the, I try to get a tracks; he ain't hearin my.
Man for real. / Man my four-year-old son can rap better than that;
man that garbage. / Man I got talent too, the ain't  hearin me. /
Man iii-iiiis this on? 'Cris, c'mon 'Cris. / 'Cris, f'real man. YOU, MAN YOU!

To say that the Osbournes bleeping language is on par in vulgarity with the subject matter in raps by Ludacris is in fact ludicrous.
