Last week a rumor surfaced on the Internet
that Metallica was putting together a summer stadium tour similar to their
2000 outing, “The Summer Sanitarium Tour” that featured Metallica along
with Korn, Kid Rock, Powerman 5000 and System of a Down.
Yahoo’s Launch.com is now reporting that
the stadium tour appears to be a go for this summer and will feature sets
from Metallica, Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park.
Linkin Park’s DJ Joe Hahn told Launch,
"Once we hit the summer we're going to do a stadium tour with Metallica
and Limp Bizkit.”
Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park will be touring
in support of new spring releases. Linkin Park’s sophomore album, “Meteora,”
is scheduled for release on March 25th and Limp Bizkit’s forthcoming album,
“Less Is More,” is expected to hit stores on April 1st. A release date
for Metallica’s new studio effort has yet to be set.
More details about the tour are not known
at press time and the Limp Bizkit and Metallica camps have yet to confirm
that they are indeed planning the outing.
antiMUSIC doubts that our suggested titles
for the tour "Hard Rock Incorporated" or "Fat Man/Red Hat, Egos and Lawyers
and The Boyband With Guitars Get Paid Tour" will be used.
