Is The Osbournes Scripted?

Was the Osbournes scripted? “Yup, it was faked”,
says NYnewsday.com’s Verne Gay after viewing the third season finale. (at
least the finale was scripted)
Gay writes, “The final scene of Tuesday's
show revealed the presence of cue cards and viewers overheard someone (presumably
a director) yell, ‘cut ... that's a wrap.’ In addition, one of the family
members says ‘it's time to go home again,’ which - of course - means they
haven't been in their own home all along.”
Maybe they meant their home in England?
Gotta give em the benefit of the doubt, because who would actually write
that crap?
Gay proposed that there was further evidence
of fakery “when Jack ‘murdered’ their dog Minnie (which prompted protests
to MTV) although the dog turned up unharmed by show's conclusion. Ozzy
also noted that, with the show over, he no longer has ‘to use the F word.’"
But then again, it looks like a publicity
stunt.
The episode guide on the MTV website makes
the finale seem pretty out there with Jake sleepwalking and killing the
dog. Kelly getting dumped on Valentines day. Then again, her having a boyfriend
in the first place is questionable. And then this chilling conclusion…
“Ozzy seems to be in the same situation
we first found him in at the beginning of the series; he's sitting on the
couch trying to change the channel on tele which is stuck on the Weather
Channel. He still has no luck figuring out that remote control! He calls
for help. "Sharooon!" "Jack!!!" "Kelly!!!" This time, there's no one to
help him...or is there? Ozzy gets up and walks out of the room. And cut!
That's a wrap! No, really, we hear a director say "Cut! That's a wrap!"
As the camera zooms out, we see a cue-card guy holding a card with Ozzy's
line written on it, a full camera crew and...the rest of the family including
Minnie, alive and well. Seems like everyone was there watching Ozzy finish
his scene. Wait a second...is this scripted? Was the whole thing a fake?
Isn't this supposed to be reality television? Once again, The Osbournes
leaves us with something to talk about.”
Indeed, but very few have picked up on
this publicity stunt. We good naturedly, are going along with it.
But Jack killed the wrong dog, better luck
next season.
