“And now for something completely different”
from Godsmack. The Boston rockers are currently in Hawaii recording material
for an as-yet-untitled tribal acoustic album, which is slated for release
on November 18th.
A press release from the band states that
the group is recording “acoustic down-tempo” versions of some of their
hits like “Voodoo” and “Serenity”. The album will feature “stripped-down
versions of some of the band’s big hits, along with several newly recorded
acoustic tracks.
The band has not nailed down a final track
listing. They are still “mulling over” which of their previous songs
to refashion for the disk and how different they want those tracks to end
up. #1 singles they will include on the record and how they will
differ from the original versions.
“We decided to do an acoustic record because
we have always messed around with acoustic versions of our music and gotten
great reactions to it. Re-working the songs this way shows a different
side of the band,” says frontman Sully Erna.
Erna is producing the album and they are
calling in Producer David Bottrill to mix the effort. Bottrill produced
the band’s current hit album, “Faceless”.
The group will follow up the recording
sessions with a new North American tour, which they say will kick off in
Canada this time before they venture back to the States for more dates.
The tour will also include markets that were missed during the group’s
last tour this past spring.
