Incubus has settled their lawsuits against
Song Music Entertainment. In a statement, the parties said only that they
"have amicably resolved their differences, and will continue with their
highly successful relationship."
Incubus filed a lawsuit against Sony last
February to terminate their contract with the company using the California
"seven-year statute," which forbids entertainers from being contractually
bound to a single company for more than seven years.
Sony quickly counter sued stating that
the contract the band signed in 1996 required the band to furnish Sony
with four more albums.
There have been unconfirmed press reports
that the settlement includes an $8 million advance for the bands next
album and $2.5 million each for two additional albums and Sony reportedly
holds an option for a fourth album. In addition to the album advanced Sony
reportedly will forgive the band $3 million worth of unrecouped promotional
costs.
