Rating:
I think they should rename this series
of CD’s, Now that’s what I Call s***! Because, it’s about as far away from
worthy music as you are gonna get. Maybe to a 13 year old wanna-be cheerleader
this is music, but to most this is bland, pedestrian crap!
Yeah, I know you expected me to say that,
huh? I’m about as predicable as these CD’s I know but please indulge me
for a couple minutes and we will explore this masterpiece of crap together.
You know you are in trouble when the first
song is by Nelly. Ok, track forward… done..
Next…
N.O.R.E. - Nothin', wonderful a generic
rap song…
Next…
Gangsta Lovin' by Eve/Alicia Keys… yawnnn….
Give me Salt N’ Pepa
Next…
Feel It Boy by Beenie Man/Janet …. Lame!
Next…
Dirty Vegas’ “Days Go By” – ok, I hear
this song far too many times on TV trying to hock products. Fast forward…
Next…
Kylie Minogue - Love At First Sight… not
bad for mainstream dance music that no one will remember 3 months from
now.
Next..
Shakira’s Objection (Tango) – wait a minute
here… this is a hit song? It’s actually kinda cool because it’s different
but music with a polka sound and an accordion will never be really cool.
Next…
No Doubt/Lady Saw ‘s Underneath It All
– there is no doubt that this song just flat out sucks! Gwen, what
in the hell happened to you?
Next…
Jennifer Love Hewitt’s BareNaked – PEEEEEAAAAAALEEEEEESSSSSS!
Is this j.lo? Boring, sugary, generic pop music?? Must be an actress putting
out an album.
Next…
Vanessa Carlton’s “Ordinary Day” – Think
Jewel without the songwriting talent.
Next…
Dixie Chicks’ Landslide – When are people
going to learn, you can’t cover Stevie Nicks. This isn’t as bad as Courtney
Love’s butcher job of “Gold Dust Women,” but with Stevie’s distinctive
voice replaced with generic chick country pop vocals, this doesn’t work
at all. I want to hear Motorhead cover this song, now that
would be cool!
Next…
Aaliyah – “I Care 4 U” – “singing police,
singing police…..” she’s using 20 notes to sing a one syllable song…
Why can’t this trend just die. Give us some real R&B vocalist like
Diana Ross and Aretha!
…you still here… this isn’t torture enough
for you? We’re almost done, hang in there.
Ginuwine’ “Stingy” - damn, did Aaliyah
get a sexchange or did Boys II Men reunite? I haven’t heard this
much over-singing since the American Idol tryouts.
Next…
Norah Jones – “Don't Know Why” -
much better vocally, but the voice can’t save a weak song.
Next…
Chad Kroeger/Joesy Scott – Hero -
I admit I liked this song the first 323,678 times I heard it but
it’s wearing a bit thin right about now.
Next.
Hoobastank – “Running Away” Cool, I didn’t
know that Incubus had a new ballad out!
Next…
Coldplay – “In My Place” – I know people
love these guys and the new album is actually pretty damn good but this
song is getting a bit old and just my thoughts but they could have picked
a better single. This one just doesn’t grab you like some of the other
tunes on the new CD.
Creed – “One Last Breath” - “With
Arms Wide Open… My Own Prison…. One Last Breath…” The Creed
power ballad epic continues.. Come on I keep waiting to hear Stapp
sing… “Jeremy Spoke In…. Class….Today…” I admit, I really did like
the Human Clay CD but this one is an utter disaster. Not one great track
on it. Fame has caught up with Creed and they can’t even do a decent second
rate Pearl Jam any more. What has the world come to?
Our Lady Peace – “Somewhere Out There”
- This is Our Lady Peace??? What in the hell happened?
Hey, it’s a cool song and all but it’s a lot more mainstream and poppy
than I’m used to. I haven’t heard their new CD so I don’t know if
this is their new direction or not. I like it but it takes a bit
getting used to.
Bon Jovi – “Everyday” I’m rollin on the
floor, how in the hell did this band remain so popular. They are the ultimate
in cheese. ..
“I’m a cowboy… On a steel horse I ride…
I’m wanted… for bein’ lame… wanted… for bein’ lame.” “Bon Jovi’s
like Bad Medicine… lame lyrics coming you’re way….” “Bon
Jovi used think they rocked. When MTV stopped Vh1 would play the songs
all day… was tough… Then Jonny cut his hair a---way, tried
to act.. but came back to play… it’s tough, oh tough… we’ll held on, for
oh so long.. hope this trend would end it’s run… we still got Bon Jovi
and that’s a lot… for Lame they give it their tops….. oh we’re half
way there…. ohhhh livin’ off our hair…. Take my photo, I’m posin’
like Cher…. ohhhh Livin’ off our hair!!!”
That’s it and that’s not what I call music.
Let the flaming begin!
