Number
One Fan Compromises

Number
One Fan Compromises
Label: Universal
Rating:
Do you like emo? Specifically when
it is shimmering and forlorn, with the guitars turned up? Song titles
like The Prettiest Sin and Sorry?
Then it is time to meet your new favorite
band. Number One Fan is as emo as emo gets. The name of the
band should be Number One Fan of Dashboard Confessional.
Compromises is the bands debut
release, and is a decent enough album. The band is very good at what
they do. There are 10 consistently good and well played tracks.
There Went the World being the final and stand out song.
Unfortunately the songs are so consistent
that they are easily forgettable. It takes multiple listens to really
dig in and find that there may be some potential for this band. Like
any decent debut album, Compromises offers a glimpse of what a band
could become.
When Number One Fan begins to develop their
own sound they may be able to break away from the pack. The songwriting
is strong, but the band is far too much of a carbon copy of the slew of
emo bands being rolled out by the major labels.
Without change, expect this band to fade
away when the trend begins to lose favor.
