Ten years after their debut recording,
Cradle of Filth hails from across the Atlantic to shock State-side audiences
with their latest release, Nymphetamine.
Somewhere between the eerie, classical
ambiance of “Satyriasis” to the skull crushing opening riff of “Gilded
Cunt,” Cradle of Filth leads the listener away on one of the spookiest
heavy metal journeys of the year.
Nymphetamine delivers disturbing
melodies offset by crunchy metal riffs and aggressive drumming, decorated
by the banshee-like screams of singer Dani Filth.
The scope of Cradle’s sound is much larger
than that of your typical metal band. Dreary harmonies and creepy
melodic interludes add a larger-than-life quality to the group’s tight
arrangements, bringing the sonic experience to a much larger scale than
most of their peers.
With Nymphetamine, the band has
given its fans a well-rounded sonic experience this Halloween season, one
that will undoubtedly be haunting the soundtracks of future slasher-flicks.
Nymphetamine is well crafted and
nicely polished, without compromising the integrity with which the band
celebrates humanity’s dark side. If you like macabre music and lyrics
laden with occult imagery, Cradle of Filth’s new record is definitely worth
checking out.
