(Classic Rock) Jason Bonham is planning to stage a tour on which he performs a duet with a hologram of late dad John. His Led Zeppelin Experience shows already feature on-screen images of the pair before the iconic drummer's death in 1980, with a part of the performance featuring Jason playing along to video recordings of a solo by John. But now he wants to take it one step further."It's important to me to have something in addition to the music that was the whole point of it," He tells Legendary Rock Interviews. "It's imperative that I continue putting together the best shows and take it to the next level. I'm talking to people about holograms, and my dream is to do a drum solo with Dad next to me. That's my goal, my dream." The biggest challenge, he says, is finding original video material to work with. "These guys were operating in the 1970s; it's not like it is today where everybody can record everything with a phone or digital camera. Back in those days, if you had a camera that could record video, you were well off. To edit, work with it, process it and release it was a whole other matter." more.

(Radio.com) After teasing fans with song snippets for the past few weeks, Avenged Sevenfold have finally released "Hail To The King," the first single and title track from their upcoming fifth studio album due out August 27."Hail To The King" appears to deliver on the promise singer M. Shadows made about channeling a classic metal sound. "I look around now and I see a lot of heavy rock bands and metal bands getting into dubstep and electronics and incorporating this new fashionable sh*t into their sound," M. Shadows told Kerrang! last November (via the band's website). "That's not us. We're not interested in that. If anything, we're going almost in the opposite direction by going even more old school. I mean, we're going way back on this, to an album Black Sabbath-esque bluesy type thing, with some of the heaviest sounds we've ever made." Hail To The King is the the first A7X album to feature Arin Ilegay. The band's former drummer and founding member, James "The Rev" Sullivan, passed away in 2009. more on this story

Danny Carey revealed in a new interview that Tool's new studio album isn't likely to be released until early 2014 and provided an update on the effort and musical direction it is taking.Carey was speaking to Loudwire about his new band Volto! and the conversation naturally turned towards Tool and their new album and when fans can expect it. He revealed that Tool is currently working on the album without Maynard James Keenan. "It's still the three of us right now and four of us it will be soon, you know, just working on all our parts and working on our compositions together." "Stylistically, we're trying to push things in different ways, but it always comes out sounding like Tool no matter what we're trying to do. We're working everyday on it and it's going really well, so I'm hoping we'll get into the studio by the end of the year." Carey was then asked about the possibility that the album would be released this year and he responded, "I doubt it. Right now, since we haven't started tracking stuff at this point, it'll be hard. "We could have the record finished by the end of the year that's a possibility, but the logistics of getting it manufactured and getting the record company in line and all this stuff, I doubt we'll be able to get it out before Christmas. We'll see how it goes. Most likely, it'll be early 2014." You can read the Loudwire report here.

(Classic Rock) Pearl Jam had to take a long break from work on upcoming album Lightning Bolt, says guitarist Mike McCready. They completed seven songs two years ago, with the assistance of producer Brendan O'Brien but then they called a halt before gathering to finish the job earlier this year."We had to pull back. We had to take some time to figure out what we wanted to do. About four months ago we started up again with a brand new batch of songs," McCready tells Music Radar. "I think getting away from them, and taking the time to do it, and discussing with Brendan, having many meetings between ourselves about these things, yet keeping it fresh while we were recording it I think it's helped. "It's going to be a really cool record and I'm very excited about it." more on this story

(Gibson) Bass legend Bob Daisley will soon release his autobiography, For Facts Sake, which will go into his time with acts such as Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Gary Moore, Ozzy Osbourne, Uriah Heep and Living Loud."Well folks, at long last, my autobiography For Facts Sake is ready to roll," Daisley says. "It's taken me over four years to complete. It covers every band and artist that I've ever worked with and has over 460 photos (many of them color) within and throughout the text. I wanted to make it affordable for the many fans that have given their support. I hope that it lives up to your expectations." Many of the photographs in the book have remained unseen in Daisley's personal archives until now. Based in Australia, Bob will be in the U.K. during the first week of August to sign copies of the book before they're sent out during that month. In August last year, Daisley's Living Loud bandmate Steve Morse revealed that the band had mapped out some new songs. "Bob Daisley is the most natural producer," Morse said. "He doesn't even think about it. I can't put two notes in a row without him having an opinion about it!. And oddly enough he has a very consistent vision of what we're trying to do. So I've just learned to trust him and cast an eye at his facial expressions as I come up with stuff, and he'll let me know without even saying anything." more on this story

Pixies frontman Frank Black has teamed up with The Suicide Commandos to record a benefit cover of former Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap's "The King & Queen." We were sent these details:The single will be released as the next installment in the limited edition Songs for Slim 7-inch series, a non-profit project created to benefit Slim, who is still recovering from a massive stroke that he suffered last year. The auction-only release, which features Australian alt-rockers You Am I tackling Slim's "Ain't Exactly Good" on the flip side, is limited to 100 beautifully packaged, numbered, signed copies and features original Chris Mars artwork on the picture sleeve. The auction launches yesterday, July 15 here. All Songs For Slim releases are now available digitally via iTunes and Amazon with the exception of the special Record Store Day release, which won't be available digitally until July 23 due to the standard 90-day RSD exclusivity agreement. The Commandos (who first crossed paths with Slim back in the mid-70s Minneapolis pre-punk scene) and Black turn Slim's Stones-ey original into a frighteningly heavy monster of a song, topped off with an insanely maniacal vocal performance by Black that won't soon be forgotten. "The King and Queen" was recorded in various New York and St. Paul studios, produced by Replacements/ Guns 'n' Roses bassist Tommy Stinson and Steve Almaas (Commandos, Beat Rodeo) and mixed by Mitch Easter. more on this story

"The New York Rangers were playing the Philadelphia Flyers in the Stanley Cup playoffs, and during a flurry in front of the net, one of the Flyers elbowed Rangers goalie John Davidson in the head. "He was knocked woozy and had to be helped to the locker room. One of the announcers came on with an update
that the goalie had been experiencing some double vision. Voila!" Today Zak Smith tells us about his brand new single "Tombs Don't Roll Back" which comes from his forthcoming new studio album "Precambrian Age". Zak's style has drawn comparisons to a young Bruce Springsteen. Here is the story: I remember writing the hook while driving up to Boston. I had been working on getting the chorus right for a while and something in it just wasn't sitting right. I had changed the lyrics and melody to that section a lot, for a long time the chorus started with the line "My heart is filled with ice". When I finally came up with the chorus I had just been listening to that song "Some nights" by the band fun. and that inspired the "Tonight tonight tonight" part in some way. It was a difficult hook to write because the length of the measures in the chorus is a little strange, it was hard to fit in all the melody I wanted and to make it sound big in strong without the words and music getting jumbled. The verses have a groove similar to a lot of the band Little Feat's music. It's kind of a New Orleans shuffle kind of thing. If you listen to their song Dixie Chicken you'll hear there's kind of a similar rhythm. I wrote the verse lyrics years ago but left the song unfinished until last year. The song is about saying to a girl, I want more in life than just you. It's a harsh kind of a thing. You can say things in songs that you can't usually in real life. The line "tombs don't roll back" means I'm either saved or I'm buried, depending on how you look at it. It's a reference from the bible, Jesus rolling away the stone from his tomb and coming out. So you can see it like I'm saying, "Once you come out of your tomb, the stone won't roll back and shut you up in it again", or, conversely, "No stone was ever rolled away, you can't escape your tomb". So wanting fame, glory, success is either an escape or a life sentence. Depending on what day and hour it is I'll have a different answer. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

(Radio.com) Panic! At The Disco have released "Miss Jackson," featuring Lolo, the first single from their upcoming fourth album, Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!, due in stores October 8.No, it is not a cover of the OutKast song of the same name, but it does clearly reference the Miss Jackson and her 1986 hit "Nasty." Actually, it sounds a bit like Fall Out Boy, specifically "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)." The theatrical pop-punk trio took a turn toward the darker side with the "Miss Jackson" video. The clip shows frontman Brendon Urie, bloody, holed up in a seedy Las Vegas motel with what appears to be the body of a showgirl, played by Katrina Bowden of 30 Rock fame. As the story unfolds, fans are taken on a disturbing ride out to the desert where the crime was committed. Yesterday, the band released a statement via their Facebook page. "Music. It took us out of Las Vegas. It showed us the world. It introduced us to millions of amazing fans. It gave us hope. It gave us courage to be unique. To be proud of who we are as individuals. To share that pride with anyone who was brave enough to join us. So, be proud of who you are. Now for our next chapter, we return to Las Vegas, to the scene of the crime. Too weird to live, too rare to die! Panic! at the Disco" Check out the video.

(Classic Rock) Formerly known as TAB The Band but still featuring the sons of Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry, the renamed Dead Boots have debuted their first music video. The video is the for the song "Saturdays" which comes from Dead Boots' first album, Verσnica, which comes out today (July 16). Dead Boots comprise Tony Perry on guitar and Adrian Perry on vocals/bass, together with Louie Jannetty (guitar) and Ben Tileston (drums). A rock'n'roll band with an enduring fondness for pure pop and a sly sense of humour, Dead Boots may love The Beatles and Cheap Trick as much as T.Rex and the Rolling Stones but they don't describe themselves as classic rockers. Rather, they call themselves "a vibrant, contemporary combo that blends the vigour of punk, the might of arena rock and the melodicism of power pop". A tall order for sure, but you know what? They damn well pretty much carry it off. Check out the video here.
