Great White Guitarist's Son To Receive Fire Anniversary Benefit Proceeds
(Classic Rock) The Station Fire Memorial Foundation, who refused to accept a charitable donation from Great White singer Jack Russell, will receive some of the money after all.

Last week Russell announced he'd perform an acoustic show to mark the 10th anniversary of the night club blaze which killed 100, including guitarist Ty Longley. But the foundation said they didn't want the money – and all but suggested the event was a publicity stunt.

Now the singer, who parted ways with the rest of Great White last year, has revealed he'll send the proceeds to Longley's nine-year-old son. And young Acey, who never met his father, says he'll pass some of the money to the foundation.

The boy comments: "Thank you to Great White (the Jack one) for donating to my charity, BEATS – Bringing Everyone A Tremendous Smile – to help bring iTunes cards, drumsticks and Legos to children in hospitals, in memory of my father.

"I bring smiles to kids in two hospitals in Illinois. I also plan to give some of it to the Station Fire Memorial Foundation to help build a permanent site for all the angels, including my dad." more on this story

The Black Keys Vs Casino
(Radio.com) With bands continually looking for ways to augment income in face of decreasing across-the-board record sales, brazen advertisers have allowed the Black Keys to turn commercial lawsuits into a lucrative revenue stream.

After already successfully suing Pizza Hut and Home Depot for the same offense, the Ohio-based blues-rockers are now taking on Pinnacle Entertainment and Manhattan Production Music for ripping off one of their songs for a TV commercial campaign.

As reported by the Hollywood Reporter, the Black Keys recently filed suit against the two aforementioned entities for a pair of commercials (including one for L'Auberge Casino Resort Lake Charles in Louisiana) that utilized music which sounds "substantially similar" to the band's song, "Howlin' For You."

Unlike the band's previous lawsuits with Home Depot and Pizza Hut, this current case has a thoroughly modern social networking angle. more on this story

Dave Grohl Plans Sound City Players Concerts Around The World
(Gibson) Next Thursday (Jan. 31), Dave Grohl's Sound City Players will stage their second concert, this time at the Hollywood Palladium.

Speaking to Billboard.com, Grohl said more shows are forthcoming. "We plan to do shows all over the world," promised the Foo Fighters frontman. "When I came up with the idea of taking all these performers to the live stage a few months ago, my idea [was] to have video presentations between each performance. We'll have that at the next shows."

The 17-musician supergroup – which includes John Fogerty, Stevie Nicks, Rick Nielsen and other high-profile players, made its debut at the Sundance Film Festival on January 18. Uniting the band members is the fact that they all recorded albums at the legendary Sound City studio in Van Nuys, California. In his film documentary about Sound City, Grohl spoke with everyone from Neil Young to Barry Manilow about what made the studio special.

"I'd ask everyone tell the story of what Sound City represents to them and what it represents to music," Grohl told Billboard, when asked to describe his interview style. "I talked with each of these people for at least two hours. The Tom Petty interview was three hours, Stevie was three hours. I could make a movie about each one." more on this story

Guns N' Roses Reportedly Won't Keep Aussie Fans Waiting
(hennemusic) A day after Guns N' Roses guitarist DJ Ashba offered up the latest excuse for the band's notorious concert tardiness, the promoter of the band's upcoming Australian tour has promised that Axl Rose will be on time for the shows.

"Axl will be on stage on time, so any of those fairyheads saying he won't be, good luck!" Andrew McManus tells Sydney's Triple M.

Axl has long been hammered for being being late on stage, sometimes up to two hours late, but McManus says he's got his act together.

"The great thing is that the last 12 months he's been on stage on time. I can guarantee all the punters that do go, he has been exemplary," he said. "He'll promise you, he'll be on stage at the right time, so don't be fearful. [If] you rock out there two hours late and think you're going to see him... the show will be over." more on this story

Tommy Emmanuel and Martin Taylor Releasing New Album
Tommy Emmanuel and Martin Taylor have set a March 4th UK release date for their new collaborative album, "The Colonel & The Governor."

The acoustic album stemmed from a simple idea: find songs that Tommy and Martin love and come up with arrangements that could allow both of them to, as Tommy Emmanuel says, "fly their own our kites," and have some fun playing together in the process.

They will be launching a UK in support of the effort on March 2nd in Belfast. more on this story
