(Radio.com) Fall Out Boy announced that they have reunited after an indefinite hiatus and debut their new single "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)" on iTunes.Fall Out Boy's fifth studio album Save Rock And Roll will be released on May 7th, 2013, the 10th anniversary of Fall Out Boy's first full length studio album in 2003, Take This To Your Grave. It's their first new studio album since Folie Α Deux in December 2008. They also announced the Save Rock And Roll U.S. tour that will kick off one week after the album release on May 14 in Milwaukee, WI. They celebrated by burning their back catalog in a bonfire at the site of the original Disco Demolition Night in 1979, now U.S. Cellular Field. They visited B96/Chicago and revealed the meaning behind their new album title. "Rock and roll to me represents an attitude," said Pete Wentz. "It represents something inside you. That's why we got into playing music. That's why I wanted to be in the band. So you can take it as an ironic thing or you can take it the way it is. We just wanted to do something that was fun and dangerous for us. We didn't need to do the band again, we wanted to do it because it was fun." "Obvious and safe doesn't seem that rock and roll to me," laughed Patrick Stump. Check out the new single here.

Volbeat have revealed two big piece of news: they have set a release date for their new album and they have recruited Rob Caggiano to join the band. Caggiano recently announced his departure from Anthrax, ostensibly to focus on being a music producer. One of those production projects was Volbeat's new album. That new album, Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies, is set to be released on April 9th. For the effort Caggiano teamed with long-time production partner Jacob Hansen, who produced and mixed the band's prior four albums. Volbeat's Michael Poulsen had this to say, "The band is very proud and happy to announce that he will also be the new guitar player in Volbeat. The collaboration with Rob in the studio was so inspiring and in good spirit that we the decided to keep him. Basically we went into the studio as a three piece and came out as a whole band!" Caggiano as explained how his joining the band came to pass, "Wow! I have to say I'm completely blown away by the turn of events over the last few weeks here in Denmark and at this point an update is definitely in order. "To start with, I came to Denmark about a month ago to produce the new Volbeat record which in and of itself has been an incredibly exciting adventure from a producer's perspective thus far. However, I'm extremely happy to say my relationship with these guys will not end there as it turns out......it's just beginning! "Michael had asked me on the phone before I got out here if I would play some guest solos on the new album in addition to my other duties and of course I was thrilled about that and agreed to do so. When I actually got to Denmark and started going through the material, this turned out to be so much more than that. read the rest here.

(Gibson) Machine Head have started kicking around ideas for their next studio album according to singer/guitarist Robb Flynn. Flynn has revealed on his blog that the band played their first jam session last week to kick around some ideas for the next album. "Dave [McClain, drums], Phil [Demmel, guitar] and I practiced the other day and it was a really productive first jam session," Flynn wrote. "McClain had about five rockin' riffs, Demmel brought in the skeleton of what feels like a great song and I had a few riffs that we rocked on, no full songs, but solid riffs. It felt good, good to be moving on from Locust. Super proud of that record, but it's time to move on, and we're ready to move on. Bring on the future with an open embrace." more on this story

Fogerty told American Songwriter for their latest cover story, "I encouraged each of these artists to come up with their own vision of my song, rather than just redoing what I'd recorded in the past. Steve Lukather recently spoke with Classic Rock Revisited about his new solo album, Transition. But he also told them the story of how he ended up playing on Eric Clapton's "Behind the Sun" and revealed that he is working with Lonn Friend on a new book. Lukather told them, "There is a funny story about that. I talked my way onto that album. I knew the producer on that one and I really wanted to meet Eric because I was a lifelong fan. I was so f**king nervous when I met EricI have never been that nervous meeting any star in the world. I played for free on that album because I just wanted to meet him. "We played 'Forever Man' and I froze up and I didn't know what to play and that never happens to me. I would play a little bit, but I didn't want to play too much. "Anyway, when I showed up, Eric grabs me and starts feeling my fingers and he says, 'You don't' have any calluses.' I said, 'Eric, I just got out of the shower and ran over here.' He told me some really nice sh*t like how much he dug the solo in 'Rosanna.' I was like, 'Really? You liked that?' He was so nice to me. I played with him one other time, on stage at the Hollywood Bowl with Elton. I have a picture of that in my office. "Being around people like that and watching the process of what these geniuses do
I mean all of these people that I've been in the room with. "I'm writing my book. It's called The Book of Luke and it has all of these biblical references in it. I am writing it with my buddy Lon Friend who was the editor of Rip Magazine. Lon and I have known each other since I was fourteen. I didn't want to write stuff like, 'When I was seven I got my first guitar' because everyone would already be nodding out. It is almost written in the Slaughterhouse-Five style. It is humorous. I am not writing about the sex and drugs and stuff. I have a lot of great stories about working with all of these great people. It's all positive. I'm not throwing anybody under the bus. Why do that? I read a lot of biographies and I've found out what to do and what not to do." Read the full interview here.

(Radio.com) With this year's Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame induction ceremony getting closer, the debate about who should or shouldn't get inducted intensifies among music fans. One consistent omission from the Hall and this year's ballot is Chicago. Their name doesn't come up as often as some harder-rocking bands (fans KISS have been notoriously loud with their complaints that the heavy rock legends are long overdue for induction). But even some fans and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers from the hard rock side of music feel that Chicago should be in the Hall. In discussing this very topic with Radio.com, Slash said, "There's so many bands that should be in there, but aren't. Chicago was a major band in the '70s." Indeed, with a career-spanning four decades and classics like "Beginnings," "Make Me Smile," "25 or 6 to 4," "Does Anybody Really Know What Time It Is?" "Saturday In The Park" and "Only The Beginning," Chicago influenced any rock and roll band who used a horn section to augment their sound (notably, Chicago's horn players are all members of the band, not hired hands). And they adapted with the times, scoring hits through the '80s with monster singles like "Hard To Say I'm Sorry" and "Stay The Night." They're still a huge touring band, hitting the road year after year. So, founding keyboardist Robert Lamm explained to Radio.com, that not being inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame doesn't exactly keep him up at night. "Really, in the scheme of things, it's not a very important thing. It's just a bust of somebody in a museum
and either it's there or it's not there. The really important thing is that we're still making music, we're still as vital now as we ever were." He adds, "We're actually better than we used to be." Watch the interview

(Radio.com) "We started this project about a year and a half ago," said Dave Grohl, standing in front of a packed theater at Hollywood's famous Cineramadome. The VIP crowd had assembled for the L.A. premiere of documentary Sound City, Grohl's directorial debut and love letter to the revered San Fernando Valley, CA recording studio that time forgot."It was a place that changed my life," Grohl continued while introducing the film. "I walked into Sound City and I was like a kid, I was twenty-two. I had no idea that the next couple weeks would change my life forever," he added, referring to the time it took for Nirvana to record their seminal 1991 release, Nevermind, in Sound City's notoriously dumpy halls. After the movie, the crowd of family, friends and musical icons (producer Butch Vig was spotted in line for popcorn) trekked two blocks east on Sunset Blvd to join thousands more at the sold-out Hollywood Palladium for a special all-star concert that Grohl warned would be "f***in' long." With upwards of 40 songs, the all-star jam band would play for over three hours. Read the full report here.

(Radio.com) The Grammys and rock and roll have always had an uneasy relationship. While some iconic rockers like Bruce Springsteen and U2 have shelves full of Grammys, many others have never won a single one. Proud members of the overlooked Grammy club include The Rolling Stones, The Who, The Kinks, Jimi Hendrix, ZZ Top and Lynryd Skynyrd. But Music's Biggest Night has at least paid tribute to Skynryd and the genre they've come to symbolize, southern rock. At the 2005 Grammys, Skynryd led a supergroup medley that started with "Freebird" (featuring country singer Gretchen Wilson), "Fooled Around And Fell In Love" (with Elvin Bishop and Keith Urban), "Ramblin' Man" (with ex-Allman Brothers Band member Dickey Betts and Tim McGraw) and "Sweet Home Alabama." The Skynyrd guys recently sat down with Radio.com and said that performing at the show as a thrill
not least because of who was sitting in the audience. "Man, it was a great experience," guitarist Rickey Medlocke said. "Standing up there playing to all those people. We looked down and Jimmy Page was in the front row, him and John Paul Jones. It was like, 'Whoa!'" Founding guitarist Gary Rossington said that crossing Les Paul guitars with Dickey Betts was a thrill, while singer Johnny Van Zant shouted out country singers McGraw and Wilson, adding, "You had P. Diddy down in front, people were standing up rockin out to 'Sweet Home Alabama,' it was really a cool night for us." Watch the interview here.
