Motorhead Shoot Down Lemmy Death Reports
(Gibson) It was a tense evening for insomniacs and Southern Hemisphere Motorhead fans: overnight on Saturday/Sunday reports emerged that Motorhead frontman Lemmy had passed away. Thankfully the reports were false, and were traced back to a blog posting by a promoter in Brazil.

Motφrhead guitarist Phil Campbell put fans' concerns to rest when he tweeted "Contrary to some reports, Lem is alive and kicking so take no notice of these rumors from [expletive] tweeters." Those tweeters appear to have been following a message posted by Top Link Music referencing a 2:30am phone call that Lemmy had passed away. Thankfully Lemmy lives to see another day, and will hopefully be back at his spot at the Rainbow Bar & Grill soon.

A day earlier, Motφrhead were forced to cut short their set at the Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany due to concerns over Lemmy's health. Lemmy has been through the wars recently with heart trouble and a hematoma (blood collecting outside a blood vessel), and several shows had recently been cancelled.

The band made it through six songs and a Phil Campbell guitar solo, ending the planned 75-minute set at the 30-minute mark. "Motφrhead rocked the Black Stage for more than 30 minutes and Lemmy gave everything he's got to play an amazing live show," the band said. "He's keeping well — but the temperatures and circumstances led to the point that continuing the show would have lead to a loss of quality. We are very happy and proud that Phil, Mikkey and particularly Mr. Rock 'N' Roll himself, Lemmy Kilmister, played W:O: A 2013 and that they did everything humanly possible to play this gig. Thank you so much, guys!" more on this story

(hennemusic) Black Sabbath are the focus of a new, all-original 3D maze, "Black Sabbath: 13 3D", at Universal Studios Hollywood's premier Halloween Horror Nights event, beginning September 20th.

The new maze will be based on Black Sabbath lyrics (including their most well known songs and tracks from their recent album "13") and will be the only attraction at the horror event to incorporate 3D video,

"We were all really excited when Universal Studios Hollywood approached us about doing a 3D 'Halloween Horror Nights' maze based on our music," said Ozzy Osbourne. "I've seen the drawings of what it will look like when it's finished and it looks amazing. I can't wait to walk through it on opening night in September."

Guests will come face to face with Lucifer and his bride, blood-soaked dead bodies and bubbling pools of "radioactive water" set against classics like "Iron Man", "Paranoid", "War Pigs", "Electric Funeral" and "Black Sabbath". More including the trailer.

Brian Wilson and Jeff Beck Teaming Up For Fall Tour
Beach Boys legend Brian Wilson has announced that he will be teaming up with Yardbirds legend Jeff Beck to launch a coheadlining North American fall tour.

Wilson and Beck will be kicking off the tour on September 27th in Hollywood, FL at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and will conclude the trek on October 27th in Akron, OH at the EJ Thomas Performance Arts center.

Wilson and Beck will also be joined on the tour by Wilson's former Beach Boys bandmates Al Jardine and David Marks on the tour, according to the announcement.

The idea for the tour came after Beck collaborated with Wilson in the studio recently as a guest star on the former Beach Boys mastermind's forthcoming studio album.

"Jeff is one of the most amazing guitarists I've ever worked with and his vibe is inspiring," says Wilson. "I feel having Jeff Beck co-headline with me is a cool and exciting addition.

Original Dio Members Play Debut Last In Line Show
(Gibson) Vivian Campbell has performed live for the first time with Last In Line, his new band, and is dedicated to playing the songs of the first three Dio albums. And he's brought his original Dio-era Les Paul along for the ride.

As well as Campbell, Last In Line features founding Dio members Vinny Appice (drums), Jimmy Bain (bass) and Claude Schnell (keys), along with vocalist Andrew Freeman (Lynch Mob, Hurricane). The band played a low-profile show at Slidebar in Fullerton, California as a warm-up for their UK tour.

Campbell used his official Facebook page to explain his guitar choice for the tour: "I'll be taking 72987537, my original Dio-era Les Paul on the tour with my trusty, silver-sparkle, bastardised '78 Custom as a back-up," he wrote, adding that he would be plugging straight into his amp with no effects.

The band will play at Limelight in Belfast, Ireland on August 8, Cathouse in Glasgow, Scotland on August 9, the Bloodstock festival in Derbyshire, England on August 10, and at Islington Academy, London, England on August 11.

They're also booked for Japan's Loud Park festival in Tokyo on October 20. "We had hoped to do a more comprehensive European tour, but scheduling conflicts prevented it this time around," the band explains on their website. "However, going forward there will be many more shows in many more countries." More including video and the setlist.

Ozzy Says Bill Ward Was Too Overweight For Sabbath
(hennemusic) Black Sabbath frontman Ozzy Osbourne says original drummer Bill Ward was not in shape for the band's reunion album or tour, despite the fact that he declined to participate over a contractual dispute.

"I don't think he could have done the gig, to be honest," Ozzy tells the New York Daily News. "He's incredibly overweight. A drummer has to be in shape. He's already had two heart attacks. I don't want to be responsible for his life."

Still, the singer says "the door is always open" for Ward to return and admits that without him "it's not the same." Ozzy's remarks come less than a week after Ward reaffirmed his reasons for passing on the band's "13" album and tour. Read what he had to say here.

Chris Holmes Doubt's W.A.S.P.'s Blackie Lawless Broken Leg Story
(Classic Rock) Former W.A.S.P. guitarist Chris Holmes has suggested frontman Blackie Lawless made up an excuse for cancelling the band's European tour.

The call-off was announced at the end of May via the boss of Swedish rock festival Kirunafestivalen, who reported: "Lawless was injured in a vehicle-related accident that resulted in him breaking a leg. Complete recovery is expected following surgery."

But Holmes tells Uber Rock: "The rock'n'roll business, sometimes the bullsh*t that people make up just to get publicity makes you sick.

"Like, I bet you if I went to somebody's house, their leg wouldn't be broken." He has more to say on this and explains the delay of his solo album.

The Melvins Reunite With Mike Dillard For New Album
The Melvins have announced the release of their new album, "Tres Cabrones" which they will be releasing on November 5th and marks the return of original drummer Mike Dillard.

Dillard, Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover reconvened for the new album with the goal of creating brand new music together and it has resulted in the new 12-track album.

"Tres Cabrones is as close as we're willing to get to the Melvins 1983 line-up," says Osborne. "The best part is it's all new songs. I specifically wrote tunes that would be good for these guys to play and it worked out great. We had no interest in rehashing tunes we wrote 30 years ago and chose instead to simply create NEW songs. It worked out perfectly."

"Making the Tres Cabrones record was a real treat indeed. It's a trip down memory lane complete with debauchery and ultra violence," said Dillard, who left the band in 1984 only to be replaced by Crover.

"After 30 years we release a record with the (almost) original line-up of the band," adds Crover. "I've always felt that drummer Mike Dillard was one of us. It's great that he's still a piece of the puzzle! Plus, I get to see what it's like being the bass player in the Melvins! Tres Cabrones indeed!"

There is no word yet on the tour plans for the new album, but The Melvins are currently in the midst of their 30th Anniversary Tour which will conclude on August 27th in Pioneertown, CA. more on this story

"If you tour, or you have been to a 'professional' show, you may have had the sense that something is missing from the experience...And so, here comes the idea of Big Top - a one-off experiment in reaching for a more colorful, soulful, way to tour."
