Muse have issued a response to a lawsuit filed against their label Warner Bros. which claimed copyright infringement over their 2009 album, "The Resistance".We were sent these comments from a spokesman for the band: "The claim is complete nonsense, and is categorically denied. It appears to be based on a 'screenplay' which the band never received or saw, produced by someone the band has never heard of. It speaks volumes that the album in question was released a full 3 years ago, and yet this is the first that has been heard of these groundless allegations". Muse's rep also stated that "Warner Music will aggressively defend this lawsuit, and the band is exploring what remedies may be available to them in the US in relation to these untrue and baseless allegations." It appears that Townshend has written the book himself, without the help of a ghostwriter, according to a statement in a press release. He said, "I am lucky to be alive and to have such a crazy story to tell, full of wild adventures and creative machinations. I am happy that I am able to write my book myself, in my own 'voice' that many readers will be hearing for the first time." Townshend, and surviving The Who band member Roger Daltrey were recently in the spotlight as the musical act that headlined the closing ceremonies of the London Olympics. They played an energetic mini-set comprised of "Baba O'Riley," as well as "See Me, Feel Me/Listening To You," and "My Generation." more on this story

(Classic Rock) Former Megadeth guitarist credits drummer and close friend Gar Samuelson for turning Peace Sells into the classic track it became. The 1986 single, taken from the band's second album Peace Sells
But Who's Buying? is a heavy metal staple, listed by VH1 as the eleventh-best metal song of all time. But mainman Dave Mustaine originally conceived it as an eight-minute piece and Poland says Samuelson, who died in 1999, was the only man who could have talked him out of it. The guitarist tells Xtreme Metal Radio: "I think originally it was eight minutes long, and Gar said, 'You know what? This is too good a song to drag it out like this. Let's shorten the arrangement, cut it down to size and make it a single.' "Dave said, 'Yeah, let's do that.' I honestly think Dave respected Gar's opinion on stuff he was the only guy in the band Dave wouldn't mess with. more on this story

(Classic Rock) Jimi Hendrix aimed to sound like Earth Wind & Fire later did, says his sister Janie. She believes the multi-genre outfit, which formed a year before the guitar icon's death, best matches the description he gave for the sound he was looking for.And she's offered a glimpse of upcoming Hendrix posthumous album People, Hell and Angels, while reporting there's much more to come from his estate's temperature-controlled vault. Speaking during a promotional campaign to raise funds for Jimi Hendrix Park in Seattle, Janie tells KISW : "What he was trying to do was create this new sound. He told my dad: 'You're going to be doubly proud of me.' "He was bringing all these instruments like he did at Woodstock. The way he was describing it in 1969 was what Earth Wind & Fire became. That's what we would have had: richer, bigger bands with more sounds and more cultures. There would have been a definite evolution." more on this story

(The Metal Den) Randy "Rocket" Cody of The Metal Den recently conducted an email interview with guitarist Marzi Montazeri of Philip Anselmo's solo band. Here are a couple excerpts from the discussion:ROCKET: Let's talk about the upcoming solo CD from Philip Anselmo. Who produced it and where was it recorded? MARZI: It was produced by Phil but he gave me the creative freedom to help shape the record. And it was all recorded at Philip's studio "Nosferatus Lair". ROCKET: What can fans expect from the music? Is it going to be heavy or mellow? MARZI: Well I believe that Phil has put it best when mentioning that you truly cannot categorize it. It's heavy and it is f***in extreme. Every song is completely different from the next. It's not one that you're gonna get upon just a single listen. It will unfold itself into what it is, which in my book is an undeniable body of work that will not only fill this empty musical existing void but will kill and destroy the over rated bulls*** that is fed to the listener. The time has come and as a fan and lover of arts and music I would want and need this in my life. I'm beyond stoked to have contributed. This has been my focal point and it is a very important album for everybody out there across the globe. We put everything we had into it and by that I mean blood, sweat, heart and soul. Philip's lyrics are our new anthems. He is the one and only man that can deliver this kind of intense, honest, true and downright vicious body of work. ROCKET: Does it have a title? MARZI: Absolutely, it is called "Walk through Exits Only". Read the full interview here.

(hennemusic) The 25th Anniversary of Pink Floyd's "A Momentary Lapse Of Reason" is featured on In The Studio. The radio series gets the story this week behind one of Rock's most contentious and public rights disputes, and one of the biggest comebacks in music history. David Gilmour and Floyd drummer Nick Mason join host Redbeard to tell the story behind the project. "Lurching into the future bearing the mantle of Pink Floyd without Roger in 1987 was a tough one, as anyone can imagine," explains Gilmour. "You're right to say that I was confident at the end and happy. Anyone would be happy and confident in the end when our moving forward and doing what we did, making the album, doing the tour, was justified." more on this story

(Classic Rock) Opeth Guitarist Fredrik Akesson admits he had concerns over the band's direction in latest album Heritage and feared it might split their fanbase. But if they hadn't allowed their music to evolve, he's not sure they'd still be around today.Heritage was released last year and its production saw the departure of keyboardist Per Wiberg after an eight-year stay. He's been replaced by Joakim Svalberg. Akesson thinks that wouldn't have been the only change if Opeth hadn't continued their move away from their extreme metal beginnings and they had no choice but to risk alienating some long-term followers. more on this story

(Sub) Forgotten Tomb's new album, ...And Don't Deliver Us From Evil, will be released on the 30th of October in Europe and on the 6th of November in North America. According to the leader and songwriter Ferdinando 'Herr Morbid' Marchisio, this new album is the most personal one he has written since 2004's Love's Burial Ground and it explores the darkest corners of his mind like never before, making it without any doubt one of the band's more tortured and twisted offerings. Another Lost Year released their new album "Better Days" this week and to celebrate we asked lead singer Clinton Cunanan to tell us about some of the tracks. Today he tells us about the title track. Here is the story:Better Days is the title track off the full length album, and it is simply an anthem to no matter how horrible a situation is, things will get better. I have friends call me all the time talking to me about how they are miserable in where they are in life, it's always hard to stay positive when they have so much negative going on. The thing is, sometimes the negative isn't really that bad. "I just can't find the reason, just can't believe in why you'd even want to stay" says so much to me without saying anything at all. The way to change your surroundings is to change yourself, a positive outlook on things alters your perception so much. We try and create a ton of emotion in our music, if we don't believe then no on else will. Appreciate the little things in life, and thats where this song came from, whenever your situation seems to much to handle, look to your neighbor, they are in a hard place as well. All the songs off the new album are just about reality, Better Days is no different, everything comes from personal experience. I hope that people see that we're in this together. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album right here!

That's a really good question," says the bassist. "To me, it's this little group of experimenters; we're these three guys that wanna see what we can do together. That's the simplest way I can put it." "A funny thing happened after we were together for about twenty years," Geddy continued. "Where most bands start to break up, we were kind of becoming intrigued with staying together, cause so few stay together. We wanted to see what the fruits of a long term, good relationship could do. Here's a band - 38 years on - and we are pushing it
we're trying to see where we can go as a band. Can we achieve new things, can we make our music this ideal that we have in our head." Watch the video here.
