Alice Cooper Too Sick To Rock
(RockAAA) New Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame inductee Alice Cooper was forced to cancel his first show in 30 years Thursday night in Santiago, Chile.

Alice was too ill to even leave his hotel in Santiago, advising fans via Facebook that he "is very sorry to disappoint the many fans here who have waited so long for this concert. The Doctor is optimistic that he will be well enough for Saturday's show in Buenos Aires. Hopefully, Alice will be able to get back to Chile another time."

Cooper is out on the road with his "No More Mr. Nice Guy" summer tour, which launched May 12 and runs through August. The tour runs through South America May 25-June 3, and England & Europe June 7-July 16, before they return to North America again for the month of August. more on this story

Bob Seger Retiring?
(Gibson) Perhaps old time rock and roll can only soothe the soul for so long. Bob Seger has said he might be hanging it up when it comes to touring and recording. The 66-year-old rocker is closing in on the end of a 27-date tour.

"I've been doing this a long time," he told Billboard.com. "I don't know if I want to do this when I'm 67, you know?"

But fear not, Silver Bullet Band fans. Seger and company are considering a final fall tour to hit some of the regions they missed on this spring's trek. "We didn't play anywhere in Pennsylvania, Virginia, South Carolina, Florida, Kentucky... I could go on and on," he said. "There were states we never even got to... And it's going so well and everybody is so positive on it, we are considering maybe two months, like late October to late December, just before Christmas." more on this story

Ozzy Talks Possible Black Sabbath Reunion
(Gibson) As he's said previously, Ozzy Osbourne is hopeful to take part in a Black Sabbath reunion. But, in a new interview, he said he's not sure if it will happen.

"I haven't got a clue," he told QMI Agency. "If they want to call me, they can call me. I never say never. If it works, fine. If it don't, I'll move on. It ain't the end of the world. I ain't gonna get a box of Kleenex and cry my eyes out for the rest of my life."

Still, Ozzy seemed optimistic when talking about the possibility of joining up with Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward. "I mean, I would love to do a great album with Black Sabbath. I would love to get the credit we so roundly deserve," he said. "At the same time, the pressure would be really intense. I could go tomorrow and make an album with them, but it wouldn't necessarily be something I would be proud of." more on this story

Judas Priest Won't End With Farewell Tour
(Gibson) The members of Judas Priest met with the press at the Renaissance Hotel at Highland and Hollywood in Lost Angeles this week to announce the band's upcoming Epitaph U.S. tour and formally introduce 31-year-old guitarist Richie Faulkner (Lauren Harris, Dirty Deeds) to the public.

While the tour had been billed at Judas Priest's "farewell tour," members are shifting from that absolute: "It's not the end of the band, by any means," Glenn Tipton said, as transcribed by Blabbermouth.net. "It is our last world tour. It takes a big chunk of your life – 18 months, really, of being out there. We've been doing it for nearly 40 years now. It's not to say that it will be our last shows, and we certainly will [be] – and have been – recording, so chances are that there will be a [new] album as well next year. We would never turn down the appropriate date if we were offered it at some point in the future, but it will be our last world tour…"

When asked about Richie Faulkner's addition to the band, Tipton replied, "…if we hadn't found Richie, I don't think we would be going out [on tour] right now." more on this story

Guns N' Roses: Gilby Clarke Vs Axl Rose
(RockAAA) Former Guns N' Roses and Supernova guitarist Gilby Clarke admits he was shocked and hurt when Axl Rose left his name off the credits for the band's live album which was released a few years ago – and he says it felt like a personal slight.

Clarke joined GNR in 1991, at the peak of their powers, as a replacement for rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin and toured extensively with the band on their global 'Use Your Illusion' tour. But despite several of the songs from that tour appearing on the final double album, both Clarke and drummer Matt Sorum, who had also joined the band in the midst of their rise a replacement for Steven Adler, were left off the sleeve note credits.

"I think it is personal actually. I was very surprised when I first saw the record, as I hadn't seen it until it was done, that they didn't credit myself or Matt as band members." Clarke told Dani Buarque of the Lokaos Rock Show. "So yeah I think that was something he (Axl) was trying to say to us. You know it's funny that all through the years we were band members, and we were a band, but as soon as things went sour we weren't a band anymore. It's just the way it is." Also find out why Gilby would never join Velvet Revolver

Puddle of Muddy Covers
(Gibson) Puddle of Mudd have announced their next album will be a collection of cover songs from a hand-picked list of artists – everyone from AD/DC to the Steve Miller Band to Elton John.

The set, titled re:(disc)overed, will drop August 2. The collection is the follow-up to 2009's Volume 4: Songs in the Key of Love & Hate. While the band set out to record an album of new material, the toll of the road pushed them to do a covers collection instead. "Since we started we've been non-stop – make a record, go on tour, then right into rehearsals and the next record, then back on tour...," guitarist Paul Phillip told Billboard.com. "We were really burned out, and when we started trying to write again it just wasn't time yet. And we had been doing [AC/DC's] 'TNT' and [the Steve Miller Band's] 'The Joker' and had so much fun with those that one thing led to another and we decided to make a covers record. It was just something fun to do, and we had a blast."

The album packs 15 songs, 11 of which Puddle of Mudd recorded with producer Bill Appleberry earlier this year at Los Angeles' Bomb Shelter, a recording space owned by Stone Temple Pilots drummer Eric Kretz. The first single, The Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter," is scheduled to hit radio in mid-June. more on this story

Slash Visits South Park Or Does He?
(hennemusic) The guitarist in the hat is everywhere, but he's not real. That was one of the messages delivered on this week's new South Park episode, "Crack Baby Athletic Association," which mixed a sports-themed storyline with rock n' roll guitarist Slash.

In the episode, Clyde and Craig need to find Slash for their boss Eric Cartman so that he can play at the event EA Sports is sponsoring. Clyde calls his parents when he can't find Slash and they explain that Slash is make-believe, that he is actually based on the Dutch legend of the Vόnter Slauche.

If you think Cartman and the boys were surprised to hear the news about Slash, imagine what the guitarist must have been thinking, as he posted the following note to Facebook following the program. Find out what it is here

Sebastian Bach Finishes New Album
(hennemusic) Three months and the music is complete. Back in February, Sebastian Bach entered an L.A. studio with his new guitarist Nick Sterling, drummer Bobby Jarzombek and producer Bob Marlette to record Bach's next CD, due this fall via the Italian label Frontiers Records.

"We are DONE mixing the new CD," Bach updated fans Thursday via his Facebook page. "The last song we just completed was 'Awake', which a lot of you know. The melody from Nick Sterling in the chorus is so incredible; tender, heart-wrenching, builds into an emotional crescendo that is so beautiful and heavy to me. After much attention to detail from producer Bob Marlette, Nick, and myself, we now have the 'magic mix' of this track that literally makes me want to rip the skin off my chest it sounds so good."

"Next up we master the CD and vinyl versions of the record at Precision Sound in L.A.," added Bach. "Like my last CD, Tom Baker will master the record, because he did such a perfect job mastering 'Angel Down'." more on this story

Opeth Set New Album Release
Roadrunner have set a September 20th release date for Opeth's brand new album Heritage. Here is info they sent over:

Opeth frontman and guitarist Mikael Εkerfeldt weighed in on Heritage, saying, "It will be our 10th album/observation. I dig it; we all do. In fact, it feels like I've been building up to write for and participate on an album like this since I was 19."

Εkerfeldt went a little deeper and described the music contained within Heritage, saying, "It's quite intense at times in some 'old' murky way, and quite beautiful and stark at times, if I may say so myself. It's obvious I'm going to say nice things about it since I wrote basically the whole piece, but I guess it will raise a few eyebrows and it certainly is an acquired taste. I think you'll need a slightly deeper understanding of our music as a whole to be able to appreciate this record. I've realized my influences for this album are so diverse that I can't really say what it sounds like. If I can compare it to any other band, it would have to be Opeth, but it's different from the stuff we've done before. I've listened a lot to Alice Cooper for the last year, yet I can't say it sounds like 'No More Mr. Nice Guy.' I hope you'll like it once you hear it."

Jimi Hendrix and Van Halen Nail Top Cover Songs Of All Time
This week Gibson counted down their picks for the best cover songs of all time. Today they rolled out the Top 10, here are a couple of excerpts including No 1!

9. "You Really Got Me," Van Halen (The Kinks): Van Halen's cover of this Kinks classic was the first thing that most of the rock world ever heard of VH. The year was 1978 and the song's pairing with "Eruption" on the band's self-titled album of that year was one of the most devastating one-two punches ever delivered by four dudes from Pasadena. Opening with Eddie's legendary "brown sound" (augmented by washes of reverb on the opposite side of the stereo spectrum), the guitar was right in your face, the energy was cranked up to burning point, and David Lee Roth's sassy delivery made fans momentarily forget all about The Kinks' version, much to Dave Davies' later chagrin. The guitar solo has it all: syrupy phaser tones, two-handed tapping, wide bends and a cool toggle-switch stutter effect, all topped off with a killer pick slide. The breakdown after the solo would set the stage for future classics like "Mean Streets" and "Panama," and the closing legato and hint of feedback made you hold your breath just in case there was more coming. – Peter Hodgson

1. "All Along the Watchtower," The Jimi Hendrix Experience (Bob Dylan): The ultimate accomplishment for a cover artist is to take a song and, through his own interpretation and arrangement, make it something unique and truly his own. Perhaps no artist has ever done this on the scale of (and with the sizzle of) Jimi Hendrix's fiery take on Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower." To take on Dylan would be too intimidating a prospect for most artists, but Hendrix grabbed the John Wesley Harding track and ran with it, firing off one of the most melodic yet biting solos of his career along the way. The ultimate testament of Hendrix's greatness came on subsequent Dylan tours when he began to cover Hendrix's version. In a later interview, Dylan said: "It overwhelmed me, really. He had such talent, he could find things inside a song and vigorously develop them. He found things that other people wouldn't think of finding in there. He probably improved upon it by the spaces he was using. I took license with the song from his version, actually, and continue to do it to this day." – Michael Wright

Ingram Hill Unplugged
(Rock Ridge) Ingram Hill is set to release an acoustic album, "Blue Room Afternoon," on June 21, 2011 exclusively on iTunes.

Produced by lead vocalist/guitarist Justin Moore, the album is of the "living room sessions" sort – an intimate re-recording of past hits and fan favorites.

"We had always discussed releasing an acoustic album," says Moore, "but for whatever reason had never done it. Our manager, Jason Spiewak, brought up the idea, and we felt now was a perfect time to do it. It was kind of strange recording older songs all over again, but it was fun to be able to approach them differently, and try a few new things with them, which totally gave a fresh feel to songs we've played thousands of times. It's almost a look into what songs sound like when we first wrote them, without all the bells and whistles of a full production record. (Okay, so maybe we added a few bells, and a whistle or two.) We're excited about the album, and we can't wait for our fans to hear our songs in a fashion that is not normally available to them."

"I almost cannot wait for this to happen and become a reality," said Joel Vandroogenbroeck of Brainticket, whose band has never toured America since their formation in 1969. "We're pleased and excited to participate on this next tour," he added. "Brainticket has not performed since decades and this appears to be a real revival of the once well known group."
