After teasing fans last week with a fun post on their official website about their forthcoming album, The Beastie Boys are having even more fun with the official full announcement for their new album which will be released next spring:In what can only be described as a bizarre coincidence, following an exhaustive re-sequence marathon, Beastie Boys have verified that their new Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 will be comprised of the same 16 tracks originally slated for inclusion on Hot Sauce Committee Part 1. The tracks originally recorded for Hot Sauce Committee Part 2 (which now are actually back on Part 1) have now apparently been bumped to make room for the former Hot Sauce Committee Part 1 material.

(Gibson) Perhaps you've spent time huddled together with your loved ones during the holiday season, roasting chestnuts over an open fire and listening to seasonal tunes, wishing the music on the stereo had just a little more Zakk Wylde in it. Well, Christmas has come early for you.Wylde's Black Label Society has released their version of the holiday classic, "The First Noel." You can download it now via iTunes. According to a post on ZakkWylde.com, the folks in BLS walked into their neighborhood hardware superstore, saw "more Christmas Trees than Goblins," and realized they should celebrate the holidays a bit early. It's too bad the song is a download only release, because the skull with a Santa hat cover is a keeper.

The Ocean, who are currently on tour supporting The Dillinger Escape Plan in Europe, were robbed on a highway near Madrid last Wednesday, October 20. The band issued this statement: "Two guys in a black BMW pulled us over with fake police IDs. They asked for our van papers and IDs and wanted to know if we had any money to declare. We were not skeptical at this point, as it is normal in Europe that you have to declare larger amounts of money when you're crossing borders, so we told them we had merch money with us, and the guy wanted to see it. When we showed them the merch wallet, the guy reached through the open window, seized it and ran back to the BMW in front of us, where his colleague was waiting with the engine running. Unfortunately our van and trailer don't match the speed of a BMW, but fortunately it's not allowed to carry guns in Europe, as otherwise we would be in jail now for shooting the guy in the face. "We are facing a loss of +6000 euro of merch income of the last days and fees. The exact amount is still to be determined. As some of you may or may not know, conditions on support tours are usually grim. Fees are low and barely cover expenses for van, gas, highway tolls, ferries etc. There is no accommodation arrangements, we've been crashing out on people's floors for weeks. Losing more than 6000 euro is something we simply cannot afford at this point.

Metallica aren't done with 2010. After releasing a live EP last month the band has another installment ready to go next month. Here is what they had to say:If you picked up 'Six Feet Down Under', you may have noticed the words 'EP One' on the package and were quick to ask, 'What the hell does that mean?' Well, drum roll please . . . you guessed it, there is indeed an 'EP Two' in the works . . . very clever clue, don't ya think? Look for 'Six Feet Down Under Part II' in Australian and New Zealand stores, along with Metallica.com and Metclub.com, on November 12. In our quest to have something unique and special to celebrate our long overdue visit to this part of the world, as well as the final stretch of 'World Magnetic' tour dates, we wanted to release some live recordings from previous tours on EP # 1 and a companion EP from the current 2010 tour. The first time around we called on you to send us your bootleg recordings from those earlier tour dates going back as far as 1989 and we pulled a track list together from the submissions. Once again we went to you, the 'TALLICA faithful, for help and polled Fan Club members from Australia and New Zealand to come up with their top eight picks from all the 41 songs played during the early part of the Trans-Tasman run this year.

He's recently been at work on a reissue of the band's 1989 debut album, Pretty Hate Machine.Reznor and engineer Tom Baker remastered all of the original album's tracks, and added the Queen cover "Get Down, Make Love," which appeared as a B-side to NIN's 1990 single, "Sin." The remastered re-release hits stores on November 22. "It's been an interesting trip watching the fate of this record float from one set of hands to another (a long and depressing story) but it's finally wound up in friendly territory, allowing us to polish it up a bit and present it to you now," Reznor said in a post on Nine Inch Nails' website. Unearth have parted ways with drummer Derek Kerswill due to "creative differences." The band says of the parting: "After three plus years of touring the world together and playing on our latest album 'The March,' we have parted ways with drummer Derek Kerswill. The most notable reason for the split are the creative differences. The time has come for Unearth to write a new album and creating music with a tight unit is the only way we can assure the best collection of songs possible. The differences between Kerswill and the band started off as subtle, but became increasingly obvious over the past few months and it was time for both parties to go their separate ways. We have shared a ton of great experiences and achieved many of the goals we set for ourselves in the time he was in the band. There is no ill will from either side of this decision and we wish him only the best moving forward... Unearth won't skip a beat, though, as we will be announcing a replacement drummer for our upcoming European stint on the Persistence Tour shortly. Lastly some exciting plans are coming together for the recording to the follow up to 'The March,' sometime early in 2011." Kerswill issued this statement: "Creative differences are real and unfortunately have gotten the best of me. I wish the guys luck in the future and thank you to everyone who ever loved and supported 'The March.'"

We don't know if Jay has a new band waiting in the wings to replace us, or if he plans on doing it all on his own - but we do know that Jay is a talented writer, and we are sure that he will come up with something great. Over the last few years we have tried to get the band together and tour or write new music - even though we are juggling multiple businesses as well as three original music projects (Julien-K, Dead By Sunrise, and Circuit Freq), we have always been willing to make time for Orgy.

(hennemusic) The reclusive Jimmy Page sat down to discuss his self-titled, limited-edition photo biography with its photo editor, Dave Brolan, for Lid magazineDave Brolan: It's entirely appropriate that you should choose to do a photographic book as the camera was there right at the beginning of your musical career and is always present in one way or another. Jimmy Page: I liked the idea of doing something from the first shot where I was involved with music, curiously enough taken when I was a choirboy, by the choirmaster who was an amateur photographer... The whole point here is that it's a life in music and so I can see I'm really living it, the way that I was living it. Considering this starts off properly in 1958, or whatever, with the Tony Busson pictures, it's a bunch of kids that have got this rock & roll ethic in their dreams you know? Although those dreams don't necessarily translate beyond a front room in somebody's house, it's living that sort of dream their own way and you can see this attitude, I love those photos.

Today Dave Witham from Tangents tells us about "The Pieces Fall" from their brand new album "One Little Light Year," which is being released today. Tangets is a rock duo that features Dave (Of the Hour/Flat-12) and Derek Kerswill (Ex-Unearth/Seemless). Here is the story:The Pieces Fall was one of the first demos that I worked out for the Tangents album, One Little Light Year. It was also the beginning of a new musical goal of mine, to write more chord-based songs that would stand up as much in a full rock band type setting as they would a stripped down acoustic setting. I had been trying to put songs together previously, but I was depending on technology too much. I was trying to write songs that were based too much on what I could do on the computer
using different samples and sounds. Someone would ask me to play some new things that I was working on. I would grab my guitar and realize that
I couldn't play anything that I had been writing! I had some songs, but it just wouldn't translate on a standard instrument. How good could a song be if the chord structure and basic harmony of the piece were so non-existent? If I tried to recreate one of those songs on the guitar, it would just sound like a big blob of boring. So, I began working on putting some songs together in the traditional way; Sitting down with the guitar or piano and working things out, and then going to layer all the production stuff after. In retrospect, I really think that The Pieces Fall is one of the reasons that Tangents exists. It was the first full demo that I sent Derek to check out, and I know it made a pretty big impression on him. Ultimately, it is one of the big reasons we are working together now. His playing and drums are the glue that holds the whole thing together. Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the album

This film will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on November 16.On In Our Own Time, brand new interviews with Barry and Robin Gibb, as well as Maurice Gibb shortly before his 2003 passing, tell the compelling tale of their family business. With a half-century of memories, and the amazing video clips to go with it, the Gibb brothers go through it all, and no stone is left unturned. Interweaved with live performances, TV and film clips, and early, rare videos of the band, this 116-minute documentary lavishly illustrates The Bee Gees experience. The Bee Gees remarkable candor on the disparity between their incredible successes and their heartbreaking lows make In Our Own Time essential and dramatic viewing even if one is only a casual fan. Robin, Barry, and Maurice Gibb offer revealing and personal commentary on each step of the journey: their burgeoning childhood stardom in their native Australia, their first flush of success in London, the break-up and inevitable reunion, the phantasmagoria of fame ricocheting from Saturday Night Fever, and their work as songwriters, penning tunes not only for themselves, but Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Kenny Rogers, and Dolly Parton. It is, in essence, the history of pop music itself spanning the '60s, '70s and beyond. The DVD ends on a note of hope: Barry and Robin singing anew those classic songs again for the camera, leaving the door open to more Bee Gees chapters.
