Anthrax is elated to announce that Joey Belladonna has officially rejoined the band. In his once and current capacity, Belladonna will make his first appearance with Anthrax this summer when the band joins Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth - The Big Four founding bands of the thrash genre - to co-headline a series of Sonisphere Festivals in ten European cities, as well as playing a handful of Anthrax-headlined shows (itinerary is below)."I am super excited about this," said Scott Ian. "Joey and the rest of the band came to see me play at a club in New York, I hadn't seen Joey for years, since the end of the reunion tour. Joey taps me on the shoulder, instant big hug, it felt like no time had gone by. The band dynamic is an interesting one - in Anthrax, Joey and I spent so many years of our lives together, we grew up together, we know each other so well, so it was like no time was lost." Belladonna, an essential part of Anthrax's lineup from 1985 to 1992, sang on some of the band's most popular albums including Spreading the Disease, Among the Living and Persistence of Time. He had reunited with original members of Anthrax for the 2005 - 2007 "Among the Living Tour," but this situation is different. Explained Belladonna, "I had been in touch with Charlie and Frank, then I got a call from their manager who said that everyone wanted me back in the band. I thought, 'are you guys for real? You want me up there, fronting the band like it was before?' I was thrilled. We've already started to reconnect with the old ways of having conversations. Everything is easy going and feels really good."

Poor David Lee Roth. He's getting a divorce. The problem is that the Van Halen frontman's rep says he isn't married to the woman divorcing him. The Morning Call had a report about the strange case, here are some, but not all, of the highlights: David Lee Roth has been a puppet, pirate, a poet, a pauper, a pawn and a king, according to his 1986 hit "That's Life." One thing he's never been, according to his publicist, is married to Jo Ann Fonzone of Allentown, Pa. But for the past four years, Fonzone, acting as her own attorney, has been trying to divorce the lead singer of Van Halen in Lehigh County Court. And, because she can't afford it, Lehigh County has waived the filing fee.Roth is one of 18 defendants Fonzone has targeted in nearly two dozen lawsuits, complaints and appeals in federal and county courts since 1997. Those suits have claimed countless hours from judges, lawyers, clerks and defendants. Fonzone said she can't produce photos of herself with Roth or a marriage certificate; she says she left them in California when she left Roth in 1993. She also claims in court documents that Roth used her Social Security number to gain a $50 million credit line.

Interpol had good news and bad news for fans. The good news is that they have finished their new album and the bad news is that they have lost a member. Here is what they had to say:As some of you have surely heard, Interpol has completed it's new album. It was recorded at Electric Lady Studios, New York, and mixed with Alan Moulder at Assault and Battery, London. The four of us poured our collective heart into this music and we are very proud and excited to share it. It's a heavy record. But we're feeling limber; and we're going to carry it all around the world for you. Touring begins this summer, so check here soon for announcements and show dates. There is more: Sadly, Carlos will not be joining us. After the completion of the album, Carlos informed the rest of us that he would be leaving the band. He has decided to follow another path, and to pursue new goals. This separation is amicable, and we whole-heartedly wish him great happiness and success. We will remain, as always, deeply respectful fans of this blazingly talented individual.

MetalSucks' Vince Neilstein recently caught up with Darkest Hour guitarist and founding member Mike Schleibaum and discussed a variety of topics. The following excerpt is where they discuss the band parting ways with Victory Records and inking with E1When we were writing the Eternal Return we knew it was the last Victory record. We knew that things were going to be rocky with not resigning, so we had our tentacles out there. It wasn't until after the record came out — and we've been on tour for awhile — that we started getting offers. I'm happy to say that the decade of turbulence on Victory Records . . . still surviving that, and we still had an offer from almost every label you would want to sign to. It was pretty obvious from the beginning who were the ones that we're the best fit for. E1 is kind of new. They do have artists, but it's not the first one that I would have thought of. After seeing all the deals and meeting all the people, they just really seemed like they're the perfect place for us to go with a whole new start and being able to totally re-launch as a band and have our own identity. For so long we were tied to the way Victory markets bands and being in that role, you know? It's nice now to be able to be an extreme, aggressive metal band that has its own identity.

In 2007 Volkswagen celebrated their 60th anniversary by staging a huge event in Hanover, Germany. The celebrations included a concert by The Who, who performed their 1967 hit 'Magic Bus'. Though not originally about a VW, the classic track has become an anthem for VW bus owners and links between The Who and the Volkswagen bus go back as far as 1965, indeed, Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend enjoy VW ownership to this day. After the celebrations, the idea to create a 'real' magic bus came into being. Roger Daltrey is a long standing patron of Teenage Cancer Trust, and, with the help of Volkswagen Commercials AG, who donated the vehicle, the idea became reality. The Magic Bus would be raffled and the proceeds donated to TCT. The competition drew interest from all over the world and raised £28,000 for a worthy cause. The Magic Bus is now up to be auctioned at the car auction specialists Coys sale in Ascot, Berkshire, England, on 23rd May, 2010. All the details

Rusty Anderson, lead guitarist for the Paul McCartney Band, will release his sophomore album, Born On Earth, late this summer, having recently inked a distribution deal with Megaforce. Anderson's album will hit stores on August 3, 2010. Born On Earth is a loosely conceptual album that looks at modern life, contemplating what it's like, as individuals and in communities, to be alive in this era and on our planet. Musically, the album ranges from the howling, guitar-heavy title-track opener to the dreamy, power-pop of "Timed Exposure;" from the jaunty, folk-y "Where Would We Go?" to the evocative, cascading, hammer dulcimer-accented yearnings of "Baggage Claim;" and from the grand modern rock of "New Beginning" to the driving, spacey build of "Under A White Star." Throughout the album, Anderson's free, expressive guitar playing anchors the songs, whether gentle, acoustic picking or crushing riffs or a searing solo. Recognized and counted on for his virtuosic skills, it's his innate understanding of a song's needs and his use of restraint in playing that sets him apart.

And Hell Followed With might be playing some of the heaviest, most hellish songs this side of Oceano, but there was a time when their sounds rang a bit more angelic. While their truly furious brand of motor city slaughter was still but a twinkle in their eyes, vocalist, Nick Holland and guitarist, Kyle McIlmurray were part of the choir during their high school years. Kyle recounts those formative experiences:"Nick and I were a part of high school choir -- honestly some of the best times of our lives. We were always known as the obnoxious metal guys who would always be the first to take their pants off and run around the room. Aside from that, we were looked up to as leaders from our underclassmen and actually developed a lot of incredible relationships with some very amazing people. Our choir instructor is basically the person who formed us as adults (or whatever little we may be). Choir definitely helped us as musicians with better music theory to rhythmic dictation, all the way to annunciation and lyricism. Nick and I were also theater geeks in high school.. We were in just about every musical. This honestly gave us the reputation of "the loud guys who play in the band" with a lot of our schoolmates. We basically gained a lot of support from our choir mates and classmates -- probably people who would never support the style of music to begin with. It definite ly contributed to the younger years of our band's career, back when we were playing in a garage."

Welcome to Singled Out! where we ask artists to tell us the inside story of their latest single. Today Courtenay Green from See Green tells us about "Goldmine" from their brand new EP "Violet". We now turn it over to Courtenay for the story:I'm a sucker for a harpsichord. Ever since I studied baroque music in school, I'd been fascinated by the idea of the "basso continuo," so I'd been itching to use one in a song somehow, but only if it was appropriate. When I initially came up with the chord progression for "Goldmine," something about it sounded so classical…so naturally, I couldn't resist! I wrote the harpsichord and drum parts and then decided to add a bass line that complemented it with little classically-inspired runs that build throughout the song until they become fully ascending scales in the final verse. And then, to keep it all sounding modern, I added some fuzzy electric guitars and synth sounds. Musically, I liked what I had, but lyrically, there was nothing except the word "goldmine," which kept popping into my head every time I hummed the chorus. After listening to the instrumental track a few times, there was something that felt really dramatic about it. Too dramatic to make it personal- almost like it needed to be a story that sort of built with the music and became equally chaotic by the end. Around that time, I happened to be watching some mindless gossip show on TV, and they were chronicling the trials and tribulations of a certain reality TV star. The story seemed so familiar at that point, like it was following a trajectory I'd seen 100 times before. Person gets fame-hungry, wants to capitalize on the "goldmine" of our current cultural climate, gets famous for doing very little, hits a peak, then experiences insane backlash and a sort of fall from grace as the people who built them up tear them down. And then they're begging to be left alone, when the attention they're getting was completely self-initiated. It's something that I find both horrifying and fascinating in all its sordid glory. In any event, much like the music, the story seemed very old in some ways, but very current in others, so I decided to use that as a jumping off point. And basically, the lyrics (as best as they can in three minutes!) chronicle this sort of rise and fall from a first-person perspective, starting with someone who thinks they have everything under control and ending with someone who is BEING completely controlled. So I had the main melody/lyrics, and then on top of it, I added a lot more backing vocals than I usually do- sort of a nod to the old "Chorus" idea from plays. And with that, Goldmine was born! Hearing is believing. Now that you know the story behind the song, listen for yourself and learn more about the EP

Pete Sanchez (the band, not the man) can be seen at two upcoming CD release parties, happening Thursday June 10th at Fontanas in New York City at 11pm and on Long Island in Melville at Wild Hog Saloon on Saturday June 19th at 10pm.Dix Hills, NY (May 7, 2010) On a winter day back in 2006, brothers George (Vocals) and Brian (Drums) Wolf got together with brothers Scott (Guitar) and Sean (Bass) Bruno to create a musical experiment, a band which they named Pete Sanchez. "The name doesn't really have any specific meaning, we just thought it was humorous" recalled singer and frontman George Wolf. The moniker has stuck, and over the past few years the band has been building an impressive resume in the media and on stage with their indie rock meets grunge appeal and their method to approaching songwriting. Felix Cartal just finished a new video for "Volcano," featuring Johnny Whitney of The Blood Brothers and Jaguar Love, who adds his unmistakable vocals over Felix's crunchy melodies. The video, produced & directed by Ace Norton (LCD Soundsystem, She and Him, Death Cab For Cutie, etc.), compiles footage from the Mount St. Helens eruption of 1980, juxtaposed with a hilarious modern twist. Norton even managed to match up some stock footage of Dan Rather, seemingly lip-syncing to Felix's distinctive vocals. "As a kid, my parents would put on the CBS Evening News every night while we ate dinner," notes Norton. "When they fired Dan Rather, I didn't realize how comforting his voice was until it wasn't there anymore. With all this coverage about the volcano in Iceland, it only seemed right to give the man one last broadcast, and make it about the biggest news story of all time - the impending apocalypse. This video is Dante's Peak, meets Ron Burgandy, meets Poltergeist." Definitely something you must see to believe.

(Submitted News) Wolvhammer have announced the release date for their debut full-length, Black Marketeers of WWIII, which was recorded by famed knob-twiddler Sanford Parker and will be due out July 13, 2010 on Init Records. The album will be available for purchase in the next 4-5 weeks from Init's website, and the band will also have copies to sell at their upcoming shows with Baton Rouge doom lords Thou. With only a year under their belt, Wolvhammer has already been making their fair share of noise in the extreme metal community. Formed in early 2009 by Heath Rave, Micah Leonetti, and Ryan McKern the band quickly released 2 EP's (Rich With Bloodfuel and Dawn of the 4th) and soon was sharing the stage with many heavy hitters. With the addition of Andy Schoengrund in early 2010, the band has been able to achieve a goal they have had since inception: to more deeply explore the boundaries of heavy metal by incorporating dark wave and depressive rock into their already solid base.

It was a red letter evening for Canada's Stony Plain Records label at the annual Blues Award ceremonies in Memphis last Thursday (May 6). The "Album of the Year" award went to Joe Louis Walker for Between a Rock and the Blues, his second album of the label. And guitarist, bandleader, songwriter and producer Duke Robillard earned "Traditional Blues Male Artist of the Year" honours. Joe Louis Walker joined the Edmonton-based record label three years ago after making some 18 albums for a variety of other companies. His award-winning CD puts a spotlight on the powerful crossroads where the blues and rock meet on common ground. Between a Rock and the Blues has been described as a breakthrough; a testament to the truth of Muddy Waters' assertion that "the blues had a baby and they called it rock and roll." Duke Robillard has been a mainstay for Stony Plain for many years. Known as one of the most active international "road warriors" — he plays as many as 250 dates a year and has performed in more than 30 countries — he is a versatile guitarist who has contributed some 16 albums to the Stony Plain catalogue. He has also produced CDs for the label for numerous other artists — including both Joe Louis Walker's albums for the label.

On July 13, Viva DeConcini will release her second album 'Rock & Roll Lover,' featuring a 7-piece-band and a full horn section written and arranged by Peter Apfelbaum of the NY Hieroglyphics. The disc's nine tracks, in Viva's words, celebrate rock & roll's power to transform "anger into beauty" -making life's trials and tribulations worthwhile- with joyful exuberance. The album also features a wild, spacey cover of David Bowie's "Moonage Daydream" and a wailing instrumental rendition of the Carole King classic "Natural Woman." Viva is one of the few women to ever be featured in a 3-page spread in Guitar Player Magazine. She honed her chops during a six-year stint playing guitar and percussion in Brazilian Cyro Baptista's critically acclaimed band Beat The Donkey. She has also jammed with luminaries like Medeski, Martin and Wood and Trey Anastasio. Viva is also a producer of New York City's 'Rock & Roll Burlesque' at The Slipper Room, the multi-performer Dolly Parton tribute "Dolly Would" at Joe's Pub, and regularly conducts a 20-unit drum corps in NYC's Halloween, Pride, and Mermaid Parades.
